Default New PB's and so close to 12's! Video....

I went to Steele last night, and ran a PB on my third pass. The traction went south after that, and they would not let street cars run on the sweet spot, saving it for a drag car. That was too bad because, my car ran stronger and stronger as the night wore on.

Eventually I was able to make a few passes on it, after talking with the tech, but my clutch was not up to the task, and gave on the first attempt. I made a couple of more attempts, but it only got worse, and I ended up limping home with a slipping clutch. Before that I got in quite a few traction limited passes, and set my current below PB's

Best ET

R/T ... .827 (.500 is perfect on this track)
60' ... 1.810
330 ... 5.402
1/8 ... 8.372
MPH ... 83.62
1000 ... (Not working)
1/4 ... 13.076
MPH ... 104.89

New PB Traps (Traction was not good at this point)
1/8 - 85.15
1/4 - 105.59

Now it's time to get a clutch, and go back to claim my high 12's!

I am a bit disappointed in the stock clutch giving at around 10K miles. The original stock clutch went 32K with much more track time.

Here is the PB Trap video, where I was racing a Vortech SC'ed Mustang GT. We ran each other 7or 8 times, and on split the wins. His car was much faster, but the MT DR's were hooking better than his Nittos. His best trap was 110+, and he eventually ran a 12.8, launching on the sweet spot.

The PB ET video.

BTW, I ran a dozen or so times that were better than my previous PB, with limited traction.

3 of my time slips.

The ET PB.

The Trap Speed PB.

Did you break your new clutch in properly? If not, that could certainly lead to a very short service life.

You always forget to mention that back on N20+ stock clutch and now with TT+ N20 + slipping clutch your clutch's are softening up your launch and saving your axles. We both know that makes a huge difference and IMO is keeping your car "running"

OP-congrats very impressive times....

I broke it in easy, for close to 1,000 miles.

i also think that properly preloading the HELL out of them is helping as well.

i sit there with my foot with the clutch out, right foot on the gas and brake when i launch, not easy to do but takes a lot of strain off the clutch

great thing is that the auto will save my axles as well.. so i am good to go , BUT i will keep up my mission of trying to break them

everytime says they broke in their clutch....its complaining because its slipping. when i put my mustang back together, the new clutch went in. started it up, dropped the timing and upped the fuel pressure and let it rip on 15psi.... clutch doesnt slip, motor doesnt smoke...

Nice ET with pretty basic bolt-ons.

What kind of rims are you using for those MT's and how big is the tire?

Thats a pretty cool set-up. I am trying to put together my setup. I was gonna go with a set of 300zx rims, and about the same size tires probably. Thanks for the info.

Great times! Sounds like you ran into the same problem I ran into... went to the track with some ET streets hoping for great times but the clutch wouldn't hold. Seems like the stock clutch doesn't take too well to 5k+ rpm launches on slicks although I'm at 36K, stock clutch.

Yes, my 9 month old, Christopher, was hungry, and my 2 year old, William, wanted to climb up stairs he wasn't allowed to climb. Christopher was fed immediately following my run, and William stopped crying after a couple of minutes.

It's not uncommon to hear my kids cheering for me in the videos.
