This image is two different slips, the track rips them in half. Either slip qualifies for the 5th rank in the stock times. I ran these times on 01/31/08 at Bradenton Motorsports. I am 100% stock from the tires to the air filters.

I'll probably be out there again on 2/2 for test and tune Saturday morning to try for a better time if anyone would like to verify. Unfortunately I was the ONLY Z at the strip last night. But I got to eat a lot of Mustang.

I'm asking because your traps seem low. The 1/8th mile is about the same as mine, but Bradenton shouldn't post 3-4 mph slower than Gainesville for the final trap.

The cars pick up power until about 5-8k miles (depending on driving style) from what Veetec and I had discussed before (noting personal experience).

Good driving though. Watch your 330' time as you improve your launching, 5.5 is completely attainable, along with an 8.5 1/8th.

Changed my air filters the same day I went to the track. Dunno why the traps are low. Might be because of no wheel spin during launch. Or might be because it's a Touring so it's heavier than a Base or an Enthusiast. It could've even been the humidity or something. I'll find out next visit to the track I guess.

my traps are always around 97 mph with et's ranging as low as 13.7 when I was stock. 1.98 typical 60ft was average on street tires. I can get a better traps if I spin the tires, but I don't care about trap speed. I can post some slips tonight if you are interested.

I dont think you have an HR motor though, anything under 102mph IMO for that engine is low.

no it's an 03, it's still low compared to the other early Z's out at the track, but I usually get there quicker.

I also just thought of something else. I do have the 18" factory chrome rims too. I'm very sure they are heavier than the regular stock rims since they are steel, not aluminum. Maybe that added to my launch and the extra weight a Touring already has is enough to lower the trap speed to 102 mph?

After I posted I remembered you had a touring.

The extra seat weight will be most of that difference (probably 2 mph) and the wheels could make some difference as well.

I'm not spinning and I trapped 106 in 50 degree weather (clutch acted up and the track was unprepped so I was bogging to launch it). But again, you have a lot more weight than I, so thats probably a big part of it.

I was wrong, my rims ARE aluminum, not steel. So they probably weigh in close to the same. But the Touring does have a curb weight of 56 more pounds than an Enthusiast and 61 more pounds than a Base. I seen the Touring in the #4 spot has a trap of 104.xx. So I'm a little boggled myself. Maybe it was just the way it ran for the night. I'm guessing that as I get my launch a little better to bring my 1/4 mile time down that my trap will also rise. I assume it will probably be near 104-105. But I doubt it will be the 107 that I seen Veetec hit a while back. That extra 61 pounds is not a huge difference, but it will show in the trap.

All of my other time slips have trap speeds of 100.xx. I have crappy 60's times for those though (2.3), and even missed 3rd gear on the other 2.0 60' slip I have (but still ran a 13.8@100.98, lol)

Your car will get faster with miles, and 61 lbs will only knock off about half a mph.

Good job though, especially with the mph! Conditions make a big difference too. Some nights, your car will trap faster than others, due to the variables.

I have run consistently 105-107 using BP 93, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a 108 at one of the faster tracks, before it starts warming up too much.

Best timeslip (13.90) for my first time ever at the track. My 6 speedv07 Z GT is all stock-tires are Bridgestone Potenza re050's. Hope to get it down to a 13.20!

How are you shifting to get those times! What rpm do you find works the best? I got a 13.90 as my best so far (07 GT stock). I shifted at 7300.

I would like to get down to a 13.20 if possible!

My general run (I think this was directed at Veetec, but his run is likely similar) is to launch at as high an RPM as I can get the track to hold and the clutch not stick (haven't been since the recall was performed). Usually 5,000 plus or minus 500.

Slowly roll the clutch out for a few feet, then let it out faster, you want to get weight transfer. Shift to second, lift throttle and slowly ease the clutch back so you don't go sideways. Quick shift (light throttle lift just to keep it from staying pinned) to 3rd, same shift for 4th.

Make smooth clutch and throttle changes coming off the line, abrupt changes overwhelm the tires, smooth changes get you out of the hole a LOT faster.
