Default Best clutch for the drag strip......

I am about to take my car up to Forged, and was thinking of going with the ACT sprung 6 puck and streelite flywheel.

Any other suggestions?

My car has been parked for almost a couple of weeks now, and I can't wait any longer. It's prime time for PB times.

Puck'd clutches FTL IMO. JWT-its affordable, streetable, and you can slip it if you desire...

Hmmm, but how is longevity?

I had a stock clutch and Nismo flywheel, and that lasted all of 10K miles.

My stock clutch lasted 53K with no signs of slipping-weird...

I ran my JWT @ 400whp for 3000 miles and a week or so NA, it looked perfect when I pulled it out. Id suspect that clutch to last a while on an NA set-up. I love it because you dont realize how much the stock clutch slips/softens up your launches till you've launched on the JWT.

Yup, hard to slip in my experiences, and in my old car no BS I destroyed a tranny in 1 month due to the harshness...not good for dragging IMO, then again I kinda feel the same about the ATS triple I rock but thats another post.

On the street, I am so easy on the clutch it's probably getting very little wear. I take it out of gear at traffic lights, and start off at low rpms with just a quick little bump.

The track is wear I killed it. I have several hundred trips down the strip on the original clutch, which held up quite well, going around 32K. That's why I was surprised when the stock replacement, and Nismo flywheel, lasted only 10K with about 1/4 of the passes. I'm thinking it might have had something to do with the Nismo flywheel, as it started to cause a slight fluctuation with the rpms. The problem was verified through the dealer.

Damn a couple hundred in the Z? Damn, I only did 3 stock (regret it now) I have less than 100 in the 3.5+ years Ive had it, I dont track as much as people might think. As far as your Nismo, I have no clue man...I know you can get an upgraded disk in the JWT combo you may wanna consider it with your 5K slip launches.

I also ran the current setup at GIR, for five 30 minute sessions, which were pretty hard on it, I'm sure.

I enjoy road racing the most, but the drag strip is a lot cheaper, so I will be mainly concerned with that.

I second the JWT clutch for drag racing. I ran in on my car for the past two seasons with 1 trip to the track N/A and 6 trips to the track with boost. The feel is nearly stock with slightly quicker engagement and a ever so slightly stiffer pedal.

With boost I've always lauched 5000rpms or higher with a quick slip/dump. I haven't made nearly as many passes as you, but this clutch was abused for 13K street miles on drag radials and I really beat on it on the street too...lots of 5000+rpm launchs. I'd say it has over 200 hard launches on it in the last 1.5 years. Clutch still feels great although it was stinking a little after each pass when I went to the track at the end of last month. I didn't notice any slipping...just a little stink.

Still holds great on the street, but my motor and trans are coming out this weekend for my "winter project" so I'll see how the JWT looks when I pull it out in a couple days.

I have the ACT 6 puck clutch and I think it is great for quick shifts but not very streetable I am sure I will be switching to a JWT clutch when I am done with this one.

I looooved my JWT it was perfect at the track and perfect for daily driving. But I'm putting down too much power for it now. It lasted over 15k miles

I'm not impressed with the ATS Dual Carbon one, I expected something amazing. I don't like how inconsistent it acts, last night in heavy stop and go up the hill traffic I just wanted to kick it over and over. It goes smooth for a few miles than suddenly the car basically studders when trying to feather it in...

At the track I broke my Stage II axles (actually the inner cv joint) and I think it had to do with the fact that the ATS engages way too hard, similar to Albertos experience when his tranny blew...so my next clutch will not be a ATS, probably Exedy will be my next pick....or just follow jeremy's example and go th400

Lets just say I got a deal I couldn't refuse.

Last summer I reported to the dealer that the FW appeared to be causing a tach jump, which the dealer checked and verified. At the time I had the option to have them pull the FW and the clutch, and replace both, but I never did.

Since it was reported already, they are replacing both under warranty, as the FW appears to have caused the premature wear.

Here's the thread I posted back in June.
