its just weird cause i havent touched that bolt in a long long time, its huge too , like a 21 mm if i recall correctly. cant imagine it just breaking off??

i am about to pull the motor out this week and break it down, i need to replace the cometic headgaskets. i figured out it was blowing coolant out of the overflow, i thought it might be the way i rerouted my coolant lines and there was too much backpressure through the radiator, but its actually the headgasket messed up.

it will be back really soon though, im not worried. its never even got hot or even close to hot so the head and block will be fine, plus this motor was built by someone else a while ago, you all know the story on project swap and i want to break it down and change a few things that we now know should have been different.

i will keep it updated for sure, have a great holiday!!

Just an FYI, the Cometic headgaskets are engineered to be just a bit better than stock, not all that much superior. The Cometics are designed for OEM replacement where the mating surfaces might not be 100% true and are made with just a bit extra thickness to seal up nicely. For a real application you should look towards a multi layer copper headgaskets, the HKS one or perhaps "O" ringing the block.
The whole Cometics brainwash on this board is absurd IMHO. Seems like the sheep follow the shepard on this board.

I would definately go with the multi-layered steel type for a gasket. You might want to consider larger head bolts as a "while i am at it", to keep the heads from lifting...

I am out of the loop for little while. I was hired as a First Officer by Pinnacle Airlines and I won't be able to run the car for a couple/few months while I complete ground school. I installed the 1600cc injectors and 5 bar MAP before I left, but didn't have time to do any tuning...

Jeremy, what would be the benefit in putting in a LS2 over the built motor that you have for your Z now? The motor you have must be able to put down about 900whp or so with a good tune and maybe a little nitrous. How much more would you be looking to get with an LS2?

LS2...... I like the idea and I know just where you can get one, from me of course You should get the new LSX block and go from there if thats what you decide. Here is a good link as to what guys are doing with the LS series engines http://www.w2wpowertrain.com/t-Casper-2.aspx 6.82@205 with 352 CI block. Its bulletproof and is the way most people with a GM platform will be going. I like the Z though and if your going to take it that far in all honesty your current platform would have to be completely reworked or you may have to get something lighter with a larger selection of aftermarket parts then the Z. Either way good luck and you have lots of fun/work ahead of you.

you can get 600 easily all motor out of a LS2. then if you add some power adders, 1300-1500 is very possible.

i am expanding my business to some other platforms now, the LS is the direction i am headed.

i will probably keep the Z motor in mine and put an LS2 in my G35. that was the plan originally anyways.

i like to change things up, i am going to be getting rid of the Z here soon and purchasing a GTR when they come out.

see what i can get that thing to run...

Wow, I wish I had those kinda options. Good stuff. Not that I wouldnt like to see a LS in a 350Z/G35 platform, just curious what your reasons were since you already have such a good platform. Obviously there is a larger aftermarket to make some serious serious numbers with an LS motor. Good luck, cant wait to see that.

BINGO!!

LS2 in G35 would be SICKK!

By the way Jeremy, I raced the Red auto Z that recently had the UTEC/tune and dynoed at 256rwhp. He had me by about 2 car lengths, I kept up pretty well....it was fun.

yea, the race was so good he didnt wanna stay for the rest of us. lmao jk.

As far as the LS2 i mean, yea its a sick motor. But i mean after seeing Zs get to 700+ hp levels built with the twins. I mean , what more could you ask for . I guess the potential is what i see would be the advantage with the ls2 and making more power more easily because of the displacement etc. But , im all for innovation either way. To me after seeing this vq http://www.houston-imports.com/index...d=62&Itemid=35 and seeing other doing this much to the vq you cant really go wrong either way . Good luck either way man. lol
