Default trap speed problem or question!

I went to the track this weekend after finally getting all my ducks in a row. I have a new tire and rim setup so my first couple runs weren't up to par. About a month ago I went to the track and ran a 13.9 at 100. Since then I have added uo crank pulley, custom 10.5 trackrims with 295 35 r18 firehawk tires, spl differential bushings, and strup headers. I know that the car is not running as effecient as it can the utec is on the way. this weekend i ran 13.6 at 99. My trap speed has never been over 100 since i've had the car. Has anyone elses car been like this? It a 2005 touring 6sp with 34000 miles. the car weighed 3350 with 1/5 tank of gas and me in it. I'm wondering if maybe the clutch is starting to let go or maybe the car needs a tune very bad. Any imput will be appreciated. oh yeah my friend has a 2003 with same mods as me but no headers and he ran 14 something at 101. on the same night

Thanks

Post up your time slips so we can see where the error is being made. Also, firehawk tires?

+1 on the slips. Without the slips, it's hard to break down your times.

Just FYI - my 6mt sedan has trapped as high as 103 in the winter, with kinetix cats. Last summer I was trapping 101 with stillen airbox, mrev, crawford cats, and a stillen sedan exhaust.

I do not lift the gas when shifting at the track whether its good or not I only do it at the track and only for 9 shifts through out the nite

What track was this on?

From the looks of your time slip, it looks like you're losing steam in the last 1/8 mile. Your launch is good and so is most of the first 1/8, then your acceleration seems to suffer toward the 1/8th mile mark. It stays that way until the end of the 1/4 mile.

Or maybe, the track's last 1/8 mile is just short, thus giving you a great time but smaller trap speed.

I know that the tracks down in Houston gives better times than the one by Dallas. Not exactly sure why.

Excellent 60-foot time and ET. Are you certain that you are not letting your foot off the gas before the finish line. Besides that I don't have a clue.

Here are two 100mph plus runs. Your ET is better.

Actually, that explains why you got such a great ET, but not so great trap speed.

I know another member who's gotten a 13.8@100 with little to no mods at Houston Raceway Park, but can't even break into 13s at the track (TX Motorplex) where I race. And that's with most of the bolt ons available for NA. Also, that track is easier to pull 2.0's than the one near TX Motorplex, comparing his times there and here.

I don't know man. 80.9mph in the 1/8th is pretty strong, but picking up less than 19mph in the last half decidedly is not. And there's only one more shift after the 1/8, so it's not shifting speed.

When are you making your 3>4 shift? What rpm? And what size tires are you running in the rear?

19 in the last half is weak, make sure that you floor your car ALL the way through the traps, maybe you dont know where the end of the track is.

im not kidding or being sarcastic this time

nice light too David BTW!!

I dont know other than maybe you're letting off early. The 1/8 is good.

Again, this track, compared to others, spits out better ET with slower trap. Otherwise, there's no way that other member can only do 14.0 at best at the track I go to with lots of mods, but can do 13.8 at the houston track with couple of mods.

OP, try a different track and see if you get the same results. I still believe it's the track and not you/your car.
