Werd...

My roommate's car pulls pretty hard after his intake and tune. He hasn't brought it to the track since he's done that though. I think he and I would be a good race.

its pretty high altitude over here. to try and gage for you guys down on the coast there was a trans am that supposedly ran an 11.2 down by the coast and tonight he ran a 13.4...

now dont forget this mustang was an autmoatic (07 gt). i put my rear tires ar 27 psi front at 38 (stock tires), took out my sub box and spare. he also took out his spare aslo and had his stock tires down to about 26 psi.

keep in mind that i am NOT an experienced drag racer.. yet. we ran 4 times.

1st run: i totally f*cked up the start and hit the rev limiter from 2nd to 3rd. he ran a 15.8, i ran a 15.9

2nd run: i left the vdc on and totally blew the start worse than last time. he had 2 cars on me right at the start. i knew i was screwed didnt even try to finish the race the whole way (let off the throttle towards the end). didnt even bother to get the times

3rd run: everything went beautifully, good start, dropped the cltuch at 3000 rpms, hit all the gears great. i won with a 14.9, he had a 15.3

4th run: i did even better, dropped the clutch at 3200 this time. i won with a 14.8 he had a 15.2, which were both our quickest times for the night.

he conceded and was visibly upset that his car couldnt beat mine. my only mod is nismo headers (03 6spd) his was completely stock. if i left anything out let me know... sorry for the delay

f*ck yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats.

Stock for stock, the 05-07 Mustang GT is still faster than a 03-06 350Z. It's still a drivers race, but stock for stock, the GT has the upper hand.

The 07 Z in the other hand; im sure it can take it down although its still a good competition.

Either way its a drivers race. The thing with the mustangs is that they respond to mods MUCH better than our VQ's.

Looks like you had some fun.

a 14.8 at 3700 feet is a 14.132 @ sea level.
Not bad, especially for a first timer.

These calculations are not always "perfect". Trust me, I have to go to LACR most of the time; almost 3000 ft above sea level. And that's not the bad part: LACR just happens to be in the middle of a very windy desert with sand literally raining and flying into the track consistently. That's why its known as the "Ice Rink". This track almost made me tailfish into the guard rail... in 3rd gear!

Just trying to show how these conversions don't factor in other important aspects of the track.

im sure you're right but in the last two runs the gain i got off him from the starts, he did not get any back, and i pulled on him right at the very end both times. i do think that the headers gave me an edge.

by the way there was an auto g35 there that ran consistant 15.9's to whom it may concern...

Yes, the calculation only accounts for the decreased oxygen concentration at higher altitudes. It doesn't account for one track being generally crappier than another.

i must say as far as drag strips go it is a big time sh!tty track! its not evenb smooth the entire length of the track. it cant be a fully fledged track beacause they still use it as a private airport.

the timing system they have is a little crappy portable one and the only put it up on fridays. unfortunatley there are no time slips because its not that great a setup. i have videos that ill try to post up as soon as i get them. here are some pics....

Time slips would be nice, but not that important. You guys had a safe and good time. That's what is important.

Heh, he obviously needs a whole LOT of practice. Especially since he "consistantly" ran 15.9.

I've seen some M3 & EVO run 15's consistently. That definately means the driver needs some major practice!
