Default my z versus new mustang gt

im going to race a friend tonight who just bought a new gt (auto) and its stock. also becasue hes been talking a lot of **** about the Z. only mod i have is nismo headers (mt of course). any suggestions as to what i should put my tire pressure at (i have stock 18's) or what i should rev up to before i drop the clutch (i have 03 non-revup)?

i'm not sure if i can take him, im relying on the hopes that i can beat him on the start and that my car is a little lighter. i know he's definately got me on the torque and that im gonna need all the help i can get, thanks guys.

Is this going to be at the track?

I ran my friend at the track and we ran the exact same time with him having a better 60' and I had a better trap. He had a 5 speed btw.

Saying this is at the Drag strip where racing should be done...cough cough...

I would say I have heard drop the pressure to 30 pounds, and launch at 3000 rpm...you are going to need some luck though
Those are pretty auick
don't get disgruntled when he gets in front of you..you will start catching him at the top end

rev to about 3500 and feather the cluth so you just sit there spinning. Post time slips after the race.

They are quick but heavy. Should be a really close race if you know how to drive. I suck at drag

yeah this is at a drag strip, actually an old airport turned drag strip out by my house, they should have times up today, but this particular one doesnt give time slips, but ill get someone to look at the times for me.

i was thinking about putting the back at 30psi, and the front to 40. lol i was eveing thinking of putting a bag of ice on top of the manifold and pushing my car through the line untill its my turn up to race.

dont bother. do a nice little burnout and ride the clutch out quickly and smoothly right on the threshold of the tires breaking loose

Doing a burnout on stock tires at the track before you are about to drag race is a horrible idea. The stock tires can EASILY be heated over their capacity. Don't do it

Cecil County Dragway, MD 06/2006

The Mustang GT (right lane) can beaten. You need a better reaction time, and have your poop together in the first 60 feet. The forum is filled with suggestions. I assume that both of you are new racers, and will screw-up royally. Be safe and have fun.

BTW the Mustang above is running 7/100 seconds off his dial-in. Damn good driving.

The last time I was at the strip there were several new Stang GTs. Most of them ran 13.9-14.1@99-101. I ran similar times with just exhaust and spacer.

Well, of a launch my friend took me in his 06 GT 5 speed, against my 06 rev up 6 sp. a roll from 40-120 and various others from 30-90 ive taken him everytime by about 1/2 a car, 3/4 a car. Hes also a very good driver.

I think you should take him, since you got more torque than me as well and hes auto.

However, he just got an intake and tune, and took me by 4 cars and kept gaining...... crazy mod for that car.

its really the tune that wakes them up. the tb shuts close to redline, the timing is set for cheap gas and it pulls timing hardcore. the cai is really only good for a few hp
