04.5 350Z vs 07 350Z, what a difference...
I met up with Skorch who has a new 07 Z and has an injen exhaust as his only mod. I have an 04.5 Z that tonight ran with headers, and wheels/tires as my main mods along with a JWT Clutch/Flywheel, I figured this is as close to a stock vs stock race were going to see, and what a difference it was.
We were able to line up with each other and the first race we had I shifted hard to second and my car just died, no oil pressure loss, no leaks nothing, the power just cut. Skorch on the other hand, this being his first time taking the car to the track roasted his tires off the line...yet still managed a 14.3 @100mph with a 2.493 60 ft....at that point I kinda figured I really wouldn't have a chance.
We had one pretty good lineup and it went like so.
2004.5 Z

2007 Z

MPH I3: 79.613
I4: 11.853

I know these times seem turtle slow (we both don't have the best 60 fts), but keep in mind we are 1470 ft above sea level and the temps were around 95 degrees at 10pm.
That being said, 1st and 2nd we seemed to be side by side...once Skorch's 07 hit 3rd, it was like a whole different car, it immediately pulled from beside of me to me seeing his tail lights and being able to read his plate. I thought this would be as close as a comparison to stock vs stock as we would get....and yeah...obviously as stated before, even in Arizona....Big...difference.

Well we both didn't get great times, but it was still lots of fun. I need to work on my launching and come back in the fall when it cools down alot. Sadly my best run tonight was that 14.154 that I had against you. Looking forward to going again though!

I dont feel so bad now, my worst run in my 07 i roasted my tires in first and even the start of second and got a 2.5 60'. best was a 2.3. The torque down low is amazing in these cars....and it was my first time with a manual tranny Z at the track, had a auto before. Im gonna keep practicing though.

Yeah TCS was off, I never run anymore with it on. It was really weird, oil pressure was good, no leaks, no loose connections, just happened once, the first run of the night.

Yeah were a bit of the opposite, dry heat so the engine can't chew on much for air, no density. A lot of days when it's above 105, cars here just feel like they lose a couple of cylinders, makes me wonder what happens if you own a Geo
