Unhappy First time at the track, Advice please

Hey guys,

As the title states, today was my very first day at the track. I officially popped my cherry.

Temp was 77 degrees with high humidity.

Well anyhow, my car currently has a short ram intake Mrev2 plus 5/16ths spacer, strupp headers, resonated test pipes and a stock cat-back exhaust with hella exhaust leaks.

If you check my sig, you will notice that I have recently removed my Injen SES dual Exhuast. And in doing so, instead of buying new gaskets for the stock exhaust I bought ghetto *** gasket maker, which is leaking pretty significantly.

Any how, the track was prepped very well.
I tried to launch at 3100 with slight feathering...the same way I launch on the street, but the track was so sticky I bogged.

I appologize for not having a scanned copy of the timeslip. I do not have a scanner. But please take my word for it, I will give the breakdown

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

60 ft - 2.1130
330 ft - 6.0461
1/8 ET - 9.2119
1/8 MPH - 78.26
1000' ET - 11.9069
1000' MPH - 91.30
1/4 ET - 14.1751
1/4 MPH - 99.31

I know this really sucks for my mods, but I would really appreciate the advice for improvement. I only made one run so this is all I have for data.

Btw, I logged air/fuel with cipher, my car at 2k is at 14.1, by 5k it is at 13.0, and by 7k it is at 11.9

I hope this helps

Thank You

Your 60' is not all that bad. You gained 21mph or so in the last 1/8th which also isnt that bad. Could be a little higher, but there are certainly worse.

I would venture to guess that it was a little hot outside, and perhaps you could shift a little faster. Not trapping over 100mph isnt very cool, but again, its probably because it was hot outside I assume.

Honestly, from most people that have track experience and see me drive tell me that I shift really fast and call me the tranny abuser. IDK if that counts for anything, If I had a camera mount I would do a vid.

Maybe my car is just a P.O.S. LOL

I still think that would be slow for the modifications.

You for example have similar mods and are running a 13.4.

Im going to cry....

LOL. If you can jump from 14.1 to 13.4 seconds then fine. But most of us take practice improving our times in 1/10 second increments.

I don't think I saw 13.4 seconds until my third racing season.

Did you only make one run? If you only made one run or a couple runs I wouldn't worry yet. Some people are naturally good drag racers, and some people need to practice.

I literally only made one run. It was Import vs. Domestic night, with test and tune after every 4 rounds or so. So, I lined up for test in tune and was in line for about 45 minutes to make one pass, I wasnt in the mood to wait another 45 minutes for a second pass.

I am thinking about going on the next designated Test and Tune night.

And I will be putting my loud as Injen SES back on for that. LOL

humidity may have got you some... On your mod list.. I would ditch the sri and put a stocker back in with a k&n or the aem dry flow filter. You'll see the same gains at the track or better with the stocker.

how far is that track from your house? the closests track to my house is like 1 hr 45 mins away, by the time i get there, the car is heat soaked, but i let it sit for a bit, and watch some other people run, 20 bucks to race all night isnt too bad, i think for the mods u have, it is a depressing time, but as u go to the track more, ull become alot better at it, ur 0-60ft isnt bad..if u bogged the launch, then that prolly lead to ur 14.1, most of the race is all about the launch, and it seemed humid out

Your time is right on for the heat AND given you only ran 1 pass. I ran a Z in 100 degree temps after running my TN on slicks for only 1 pass. Car has i/e. I of course launched too aggressively (had run about 10X on slicks that day) spun to a 2.28 60ft and ran 14.00 @ 100.X - needless to say I was very disapointed with myself, but the car just didnt pull hard at all. Heat will certainly do that. Your launch is decent, keep practicing, 1 run isnt enough to judge how you/your car is doing. 13's soon!

Shifty, don't sweat it. I ran like 14.5's the only time I took my Z to the track. I was bone stock, so I'm hoping I can do better next time.

Shifty / AJ, Let's go to a test and tune soon.
