Default X02 Exhaust Track results

I just got back from the track a little while ago to see how much my times changed now that I have an X02 exhaust. I ended up running my slowest times ever with this car. I'm not blaming the exhaust just yet though because it was humid and kinda hot today. I've been running consistant 13.9's every time I've been to the track with out my exhaust and with my 19's on. Tonight I ran a best of 14.108@97.87mph. My 60's were consistant 2.0's as usual. I very rarely get anything less. I uploaded slips my last trip to the track and tonights slips as a comparison. Maybe somebody can tell me what I should blame for these bad times and if the exhaust looks like it may be helping in any way. Thanks for the help.

July 20th runs(car 139):

Tonights runs (car 530):

So the ecu doesnt relearn by itself? I've been drinving around with the exhaust for about a week and thought maybe it just needed some time.

You have to reset it.. I have done that a few times.. Like extreme weather change.. mod change etc.. It works..

You can either disconnect the battery for a few mins.. Or.. http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm

Google reset ECU if you have any doubt.. Everyone in their mother does it.. So the ecu can relearn new mods....

Your first 1/8th mph trap speed is actually slower now, but you are gaining 2+mph in the last 1/8th compared to your old runs. Perhaps you lost some valuable torque with this setup, but gained alittle hp in the process.

Your car is now slower to the 1/8th but faster in the last 1/8th so it would kinda make sense. But it would also mean that you may have lost a substantial amount of torque for it to be so noticeable.

You could perhaps have a slower 1-2 shift as well, seeing as how your 1/8th ET is also slower now. You were getting almost 9.00 1/8th's, but now its 9.2.

Did you change your shift point of technique?

Well I'm automatic but I do shift everytime run. I did everything exactly the way I always do when I shift. I really do feel the torque loss big time ever since i first drove the car with the exhaust. Even my passengers notice how its almost sluggish when I hit the gas compared to when I had the stock exhaust. I'm really hoping the ecu just needs to be reset.

Your 60 foot times are consistent. You should be very pleased.

The Z is running good picking up 22 MPH in the second 660 feet.

330 foot time is OK.

The only place that I am uncertain is the 1/8 miles time and trap. I would like to see better numbers.

I agree about the 1/8 mile time and trap, but I don't know the reason. Is the the result on not taking second gear to redline?

That answers my question. I did not realise that you have a automatic transmission.

So is that normal with automatic cars or is something wrong?

I am not sure.

I drive a manual, and can tell when my numbers are off 1/10 seconds. I can usually assign a cause, like a poor first to second gear shift.

Since I am not familiar with the automatic, I cannot give an educated critique.

Im not too sure about with an automatic either, but I think that torque loss makes a lot of sense.

you can try to launch at a higher RPM to compensate for the loss of torque at launch.

That makes sence. I usually launch at 2000 or 2100 rpm because I'm afraid the tires will break loose if i go any higher. Maybe I'll practice launching a little higher before I go back to the track to see how it feels.

Hey, I saw you there yesterday.

There air quality was awful, I'd say wait until you run again before you make any decisions.

seriously, I didn't even feel like it was easy breathing out there in the stands with the mix of the high humidity, tire smoke and exhaust fumes.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the weather killed me times that day. I'm just going to wait till it cools off and go back. I'm trying to get the car ready for a big event in november. I'm hoping to at least make it to the final four with my auto. I'm dynoing my car september first so I'll have some numbers soon too.

Simple-the heat. At least your trapping close or the same as you were before in the hotter weather with the exhaust. Never compare times from hot to "better" conditions...
