Default toyo proxes t1r on the drag strip

i am thinking of going to the race track on friday. never run it before, (07 enth) and i am pondering between using my stock rims and tires or just stick with the 19 inch rims and toyos 285/35 rear i have on it. do you think the toyos are good for drag racing , i ve heard that they get greasy, instead of sticky, i dont know if it is true, but anyways should i stay with them or the stock ones are better??

The best 60ft times i was able to reach with those tires was 2.0. After a few runs it got worse, 2.1, 2.2.etc...I regreted using them cause now their bald and now i have to spend $$$ on buying new tires..

I pulled 2.0's on stock tires all day. Go with stock. Those 19's will just slow you down

If you are stock or lightly modded go with stock, the extra weight of the 19s will put a damper on any gains from wider/ grippier tires. If you are heavily modded and can't get traction on stock tires, go for the Toyos

I love my BFG KDW2's for street. They semi hook up with 500+whp and last forever! For track and NA use, drag radials is just fine. Put some 265/40's on your stock 18's

I wanna get some kdws but I'm set up to where my front tires wear out a few months before my rears so I need new rears now and i just think it would look wierd with toyos on the front and kdws on the back. but hey I've got to do it sometime

Ive mismatched tires before. Ive had 6 (about to be 7) sets out back and only 3 in front. Just start switching to KDW's now and in 1 year you'll be good to go

well , i did some practicing of the launch (still new though) , however, wednesday i ran it , don't have the time slip on my computer, but i had two (it took me couple of min to jack up the car and change them, but i am stubborn and wanted to see the difference.) runs i pulled 13.583 - 1/4 , and 60f 2.19 this is with the stocks. it traped at 102,64. well what confuses me is that with the 19's i ran 60f- 2.22 and 1/4 - 13.612, but it traped at 103.4, what the heck whay is the trap speed higher? i guess it takes more from the dig to spin these big tires , but afterwards they are little bit better , so with some practice i will be able to improve it.

I use my T1Rs at the track and they are 285s. They preform pretty good. I am able to get a 1.9 60'. The higher trap speed can be from many things. Is there a weight difference between your stock and 19s? You might have shifted better. Or the 19s might change you gearing due to being a different overall size diameter.

I trap better with a slightly warmed engine (too much cool down hurts my trap) and worse with a heat soaked engine (exactly as you would expect).

So it might have just been difference in engine temp, etc.

well , the 19's are lighter, and what i noticed is that my speedo is off by 2 mph (with the 19'), and about the 60f i am still new to the car, so it would take me couple of more launches on the track of course to get it down, however , in general i think , i am getting there. i will stick with the 19's next time lost 15 min to change them out just to convince myself for pretty much the same result. thanks fot he replies
