I am running a 26inch slick which is causing me to hit the rev limiter right at or a little before the end of the 1/4.

Soo... i am buying some 27inch slicks and all should be perfect then..

More times to come

Ran a couple of 13.2's @ 105mph tonite. Tried to launch the car at 5k rpm and totally burnt up the clutch forthe first 1/8 mile. The pedal came up but the clutch itself didnt disengage. Tried 1 more time to run launchin at 3k, it was not pretty. The car didnt stall out but it felt like it did offthe line and the clutch justfelt likecrap. Time to upgradethe clutch and everything now...

The car has a lot more then 13's in it. the 13.2's were at a conservative launch at 2.5k rpm on drag radials. Didn't even getto heat them up and ran 1.9 60's

so u get a shorter final drive, and then ur getting taller tires to cancel out some of that short final drive?

if i was in ur place, i would have been wishing i bought the 3.9 fd instead of the 4.083

Well, true... But, come to find out... Once i changed the final drive it changed my redline. Insted of having a 7200rpm redline, it was now at 7000rpm. So I went back into my UTEC and changed my redline to 7400rpm which puts me back at 7200rpm.

So I dont think i need the 27inch tires now... But I want to try them out anyway. The extra 200rpm is enough to get me past the 1/4 now.

Ok.. My redline was set to 7200rpm in the UTEC.. When i did a data log with the UTEC I was hitting the rev limit at 7000rpm even though it was set at 7200rpm.

SOOOOoo... I changed it to 7400rpm and then did another pull and then the rev limit hit at 7200rpm. The gears through off something...

Make sense??

@ aceman, had you logged redline rev-limit hits before the gears? I just recently went through pretty much the same scenario, same limts everything. I still have stock 3.5 fd so it wasn't the gears that caused it just utec I think.

(and yes I know utec doesn't support rev-limit on revups, but apparently if you have had the limit removed via flash it can still set a limit )

Yes... I have done many many pulls prior to the gears... I did not get a chance to the last time i went to the track ( Utec was not hooked up right ).. And i had a idea i was not reving to 7200rpm redline..

So I got the UTEC hooked back up right ( long story on this, was almost stolen ) and did some data logs and found that it was only reving to 7000rpm..

All fixed now, so i cant wait to get back to the track.. I was hitting the rev limit right before the 1/4 ( bouncing off of it as i crossed ) so i know there is more in the car.

Your original post made sense. The gears changing the rev limit did not, and still doesn't, make sense. Revs are based off the engine, not the differential.

I agree

Something is not reading correctly between the Engine Speed Sensor and the Vechicle Speed Sensor..

I will have to look into it further.
