lol
Best Time I've ever seen any sort of proof on was 13.4 @ 104mph I believe (maybe 103?) Guy is called Doodad over on Mustangforums...otherwise 13.5 ~ 13.7 for those who can drive and all others are 13.8 ~ low 14s (though they won't admit it).

I'm curious the responses. I've laid everything out in logical terms, if they choose to not believe me thats a choice. I don't consider myself a great driver, but far from a bad one just the same. I'll see the local guy eventually, I think I've met him before but whatever. I'm done with proving myself. I'm just happy with what the car runs.

Tell that guy from gainesville with the blown GT to come down to the TR track day in Bradenton on Nov 24th. I know a few stock block bolt on turbo Z's that will be more than happy to show him their tail lights.

I think I know who it is, and if its the guy I'm thinking of its not someone who I really care about arguing with for more than 2 seconds.
Also - why are slicks required to make it an equal playing field. I'd rather run on a set of street tires, something fairly street legal with a sidewall, that makes it more fair to me then just like slicks do for a mustang.
Don't worry about it... this is why I value myself as more of a car guy than a Camaro/Domestic/Muscle car owner... Granted I might disagree with you guys or be skeptical but I try not to be uninformed/clueless/arogant all the time.
Most of those guys are a complete waste of DNA.

I wanted an LS1 firebird like you would never believe. I couldn't find one without nitrous, or drag slicks, or 120k miles on it in my area for less than 15k when I was looking. After 5 months I gave up and bought a 328 (sadly it was easier to find a perfect condition 10 year old BMW with a manual than a manual firebird
Once I'd driven a car with a balance of handling and highway speed (cams and intake manifold REALLY opened the bimmer up on the highway, I could easily pull on the 2v mustangs and even took a few LT1's to my surprise.
But what kills me, is that these guys are posting times with 2.2 60's. How the hell do you only get a 2.2
I ran that on pirelli all seasons, with 170 whp in that bimmer, and that was just me torturing the clutch to get some power out of the car, I can't imagine only getting that now, those are my TERRIBLE runs and these guys are proud of them ???
Oh well, I won't put slicks on my car because then its not something I can drive in, run drive home with no changes, and I don't think its worth messing with my daily driver to try to get cred on a slightly better bolt on time. I'll go for a good street tire time instead (would do the same with a mustang). Note I've seen mustangs pull 1.7 60' times easily all night, low 13's high 12's in heat with nothing more than intake, exhaust, retune, and a 275 bfg street tire.

The last I checked the Bridgestones that come stock on the Z aren't gems themselves.
I think we can chalk this up to lack of driving skill.
Peak, nice Times
The Mustang guys are just ticked because they have 1.1 more liters and they have the same times.
The 4.6 is a difficult motor, and they all know it now.
It is very hard to get alot of grunt out of, without SERIOUS modifications.
Then again so is ours but we have 2 less Cylinders.
GREAT times, I look forward to seeing lower ones soon.
I hope to be able to match up times with you when I get my 08'
I doubt it though!!!

^^ Congrats on your time Peak350! I checked out that Mustang thread and it was nice the way your handled yourself and explained everything technically. You should come out to Orlando dragway one of these days!

Bradenton is possible, but the 24th is the UF/FSU game. my last home game as a student so I kinda want to go to it. Maybe for a spring test and tune if they have one. Gainesville has some January days I plan to run, but I dunno about the other tracks. However, a 3 hour drive is even less appealing to me
I'm spoiled with arguably the 2nd best track in the region 20-30 minutes from my door and open twice a week with pretty good prep all the time.

Sadly my best ever in any F-Body has been a 2.1 60ft...hell even Evan Smith has only cut 2.1 ~ 2.3 60fts in F-Bodys... I don't know what the S197 owners excuses are though since Evan managed 1.8x 60fts with one of them.

However - I've seen a lot of street tired LS1's cut <2.0 (albiet better tires than stock) so I know its not the car.

Best confirmed was an Evan Smith run of 13.3 @ 103mph on a 1.8 60ft (MM&FF magazine).. otherwise 1 person has proven a 13.4 run and the rest of the 'best' passes are 13.5 ~ 13.6 a huge chunk is 13.7 ~ 13.9 and the rest are all 14 second cars.
