Hey guy,

I posted your timeslip on mustang forums drag section, thinking that they would be impressed and show some kind of appreciation for a great run, but instead it backfired on me.

They all think that it is BS and that your car is not stock.

Im not trying to cross thread and start a flame war between forums, I just thought you should know what people are saying about you and your car.

Yeah, there's always going to be critics. Not that long ago I got into an argument with someone in the Myspace drag forums where they were swearing that Z's were 14 second cars (including the 07'). When I posted a link to the 1/4 mile times here, some still called BS. Some people are just hard-headed and don't want to admit that another car is just as fast or faster than theirs. Especially if it means american muscle vs. import.

If this were true, you would not have made this post or the one on the other forum. Did you make a thread on the Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, etc. forums as well?

No sir,

What is with the finger pointing. Mustang forums drag section has many members with many different types of cars in the drag section.

Some of the most recognized members in that section have
1. an SRt8 Charger
2. an SRT4
3. A lincoln LS
4. LS1 cars.

They are usually very open minded there and give credit, sure there are the ones that hate imports. But most people are pretty cool, that is why I was shocked with the outcome.

Go point your finger at yourself for trying to instigate on this thread.

The guy who runs drag times won't believe me either.

I don't know how to prove it - the best mods are the ones you can't see (cams, diff gearing, flywheel etc.).

I show people at the track, and its obvious to them, but even a video wouldn't prove anything.

I thought I was getting called out on this forum and was like when I saw that thread title.

I think my post speaks for itself.... I've defended the 350Z many times against members over there.... mustang owners are unique sometimes...

I would not appreciate someone taking my time slip, and posting it on another forum.

I don't really care - just for reference.

I like to compare stuff myself and don't see any harm.

I don't post all my slips, and this one I almost held onto because I didn't expect it to be that fast and didn't want to deal with people doubting I'm stock.

I posted the link.

In my opinion, if you have it on the internet, and you don't need a password to access it, it is public information.

If anything Peak was having some slight clutch issues that night which makes it even more of an accomplishment.

First thingI said to you was "damn piece of **** is boiling the clutch fluid" as I was ripping the cover off to try to cool the fluid some more.

It held on the last run, but it was just luck.

That seems to be the typical response for mustang owners. They typically think that most owners of every other car drag race their car every week, or that anything without a V8 can run anything lower than a 15 sec run stock.

The assumption that the track gave him the wrong timeslip is ludicrous.

All I see is denial.

One of the arguments I seen at the mustang forum was that if it were true, then there would be more cars with times like that. But they forget to realize that there aren't many new 07' owners that have been to the track, then there's fewer of them that have track conditions which make it possible to get that low, and even fewer that are good enough drivers to get times that low. Plus this isn't the only Z forum in the world.

I haven't even been to the track yet, and I love to race. I just haven't been able to find the time. Given perfect conditions I still stand by my initial theory that the new 07' is capable of running a 13.0 1/4. I think we'll be seeing it in the next couple of months probably since the weather is getting cooler and more 07's are getting out there.

If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. But what's a couple of tenths? Especially when the lowest times so far were ran in less than perfect conditions and with clutch issues?

I think 13.0 is a bit ambitious, but you're welcome to prove me wrong. Less talk more race.

I'm hoping for a 12 (very very high 12) but more realistically, a 13.0xx is something I think I'll get within the next couple months.

Maybe I'll have the slip to prove it by this weekend. I'm planning on attending test and tune this week. I figure I can find my sweet spot within 2-3 runs or less. I dunno how the weather is going to be yet, but I'm optimistic. Just got a brand new clutch and tranny installed and car will be done tomorrow, so that shouldn't be an issue. It's all factory, had some problems and got it changed under warranty by Nissan. I'm not banking on anything less than 13.4 since I've never had this car to the track. But I'm hoping/expecting to see at least 13.5 or better. If I pull a 13.0 I'll probably celebrate with some blue label that night.

If I do I'll probably try to find some members out there so they can look at my car and verify that it's stock. Even has the factory paper air filters in it still. I'm all about more race, talk is cheap.

Good luck with your first track experience.
