sounds like you need to do a better burnout and lower your tire
pressures-this will help bring your 60ft time down, judging by your
trap speed your car should do low 14 sec. if you shift and launch
correctly

Something is wrong.

Even with a bad 60' like that, you should at least be trapping much higher. I think there is something wrong mechanically??

The difference between 1/4 and 1/8 mile trap is 20.7 MPH. The car is running OK. Your shifting is OK.

Look at #313 above. Difference between 1/4 and 1/8 mile trap is 20.6 MPH. Essentially the same. The key difference is 60 foot time: 2.41 vs 2.17 seconds. 0.24 seconds makes a big difference in 1/4 mile ET.

Work on your launch and you will be running better than 14.0 seconds.

Study up on track conditions and DA (then pay attention to where the OP is posting from), then rethink your statement. Feel free to edit also.

burnouts don't always help w/ OE/street tires...many times it hurts (street tires get greasy if they're too hot).

I do a small peel-out when I'm going to the line to scrub the tires and get rid of debris.

Once you're at the line, forget about your reaction times, and just work on the launch...I use the ebrake to hold the car steady, then get the clutch pedal to be just at the engagement point w/ around 3K rpms - from there, it's just about feeling how much traction you have; you want to find the area between bogging the engine down and spinning the tires.

Forget a burn-out on street tires: they are designed not to get hot. Just spin the tires a little to throw off any water or dirt.

I run 30-34 PSI on street tires.

I did consider his location, and he still should be running better times regardless. Track conditions were not given, so I assume that they were not poor, hence why the OP did not give the track conditions. If they were a major contributing factor, I'm sure he would have stated the track conditions.

Sure, he can run a better time with practice, but you initially indicated he should be trapping alot higher and even suggested possible mechanical issues with his vehicle. His trap speeds are within normal for that part of Arizona.

ryano85, a bunch of friends and I are planning to go to Speedworld on the 12th given that it's a dry day. You're very welcome to come with us - perhaps we can give you some pointers on how to launch your car better. I'd love to see more Zs there - last time I went I was the only one.
