Default stock '08 on 26x10.50/17 MT ETstreets??

I have a stock '08 base and will be bringing it to the track on the 9th to see what she'll do. The only thing I may have done to the car by then is VLSD swap. I have some MT ETstreets here at my shop off of a friends mustang and would like to put them on, but am worried about the stock clutch components taking it well.

Ive read threads about guys with '07s having problems, and Ive also heard from friends that the 08s have a different 'revised' clutch slave that is supposed to rid the problem the '07s had. Basically will I be safe running these aggressive of tires, or should I stick with the stockers?

I ran 26" drag radials with no problems on my 07. Tire size was 275/50/15 so I think its almost the same size as those slicks. I have at least 25-30 passes with them with no problem

Some drivers have a tendency to slip/burn the clutch more than others. Ive never seen anybody snap an axle with a stock clutch, even dropping the clutch the stocker seems to soften up the launch and slip some on its own. Ive seen people try to feather the stocker on good tire and end up burning it. Slip it minimally (with MINOR preload not a whole lot) so you dont
burn it. Good luck.

sounds like I'll go ahead and throw em on. I'll probably do a couple of runs on the stock stuff too just for comparison.

worst case start at 20psi and go, even spinning through 1st gear with those should get you 1.8s. i use them on my s/c 95 cobra

screenshot when i had them on stock wheels

I would run completely stock first. Just to put things into perspective. Then I would go from there.

30+psi on ET Streets is silly. Start at 20psi, adjust launch points, go down 1psi if more traction is needed per run. Keeping a log of launch rpm, psi, launch technique and results will do WONDERS for your improvements.

Agreed, especially the concrete facts like tire psi, burnout "length", and RPM at launch. And by the end of the day, you may find yourself down at 10-12psi like I have on those tires.

I agree. Work on 60-foot time. When you get it down to 2.0 seconds add the competition tires.

I honestly can't see myself pulling 2.0 60's on stock tires; not with an open differential anyway. Hopefully I'l have the vlsd in by then because now it'll roast 1st gear everytime and most of 2nd as well.

You can do it. A lot of the 07 owners have done it and even pulled some 1.9's on stock tires. Youll be surprised but the stock re050's arent that bad.

people can pull 1.9s on stock open diff Z. it takes some good driving, a good track, etc. i've pulled 2.0s in an open diff FWD car on stock all season tires as have many others, so it's definitely possible. it's not easy, but it can be done.

Ive seen 2 people pull 1/9's on a base Z and read of 2 doing it online-stock tires. It is not uncommon.

just got back from the track, not really ideal conditions.

85-ish degrees
95% + humidity (basically a mist)

bone stock (only 1400miles on it) -

60' - 2.12
1/4 - 13.81
mph - 102.5mph

I didnt get a chance to run the M/Ts because the track closed early. I did get about 6 runs in on the stockers though, and no matter how I tried to launch, I either spun and hopped, or bogged. 2.1 was the best I could manage.

Just as a comparison, a friend of mine with a stock '06 ran quite a few times as well. His best was

60' - 2.1x
1/4 - 14.18
mph - 99.9x
