Default New PB, slips inside....

I wasn't going to the track today, but then thought, why not. My car was filthy from the snow we had last week, and my tires, well, I have been leaving the car at home a lot, when it rains.

I was going to wait on new tires, and a better track, like SGMP, Silver Dollar, or even MMP, but I just got the idea that it would be a good night, even at Carolina Dragway, which has been known for hook, but not the quickest times, or best traps, compared to the previously mentioned tracks.

I got permission from the wife, whom I decided not to drag to the track, with all our kids, so my video person was not available. I then headed to the track, which is located all the way in Jackson SC, about a 2:30 minute, 125 mile, drive. When I got there, I saw that a friend of mine, with a modified GTO, was sitting the staging lanes, which made the trip better, so we could guage each others progress. The temperature was in the 40's for most of the evening, but dropped to the upper 30's just before they shut the track down early, due to traction concerns, and the track conditions were iffy at times, due to the cold, and lack of high powered drag cars keeping it heated up.

There were only about 30 or so cars running, so I had plenty of runs anyway. I should also add that my updated slave cylinder gave on me once, during a hard launch, after a burnout where the car found a sticky spot, and put the load on the clutch. Aside from that, it held much better than the old slave cylinder, and I was able to launch a bit harder, though the conditions didn't allow for too much harder. My back tires were already down to no tread at all, and I am afraid to look now, but I do ordered a set of tires, which will be in on Monday. Ofcourse, they are OE Bridgestone RE050A's. Got to keep it stock, until my goal is reached.

I took a baby step in that direction, but feel confident, given the track I was at, that a 12.9 will be reached stock, more than likely at Silver Dollar, or MMP. There was an Orange 07 there as well, and he managed a 13.6, with traction issues, at just over 104.

Here are some of the better slips, including my new PB time. Keep in mind the conditions were very difficult, and this track is not known for great traps.

Hopefully this current HR record will be short lived.

The slips that are torn in half are when I ran against another car. Carolina Dragway won't give you the other cars time slips.

I should add that my RT's weren't great because I was more focused on getting off the line for a decent ET, than a great RT.

I was also able to run several 13.2's.

That was some great driving Warren!! I see high 12's in the near future. Btw I happen be that friend with the "modified GTO". I have a '04 GTO A4 and also happen to run a PB of 13.6 at 103.76 with almost a 2.2 60 ft. If I could've got that 60 ft down 2.0 who knows how fast I could've went??

The track seemed to get worse and worse. One girl did a 360 in her Camaro. It was her first time at the track

I still have LT's/Midpipes coming so I hopefully after that I can beat Warren fair and square. We'll see.

Gratz on the new PB. I'm sticking to my 13.0 1/4 theory that I've had since the beginning, and I think you'll be the first to hit it. But I'm definitely hitting my local track soon to get myself some times. My tires are getting low on tread so I figure now is the time to hit the track, before I buy new tires.

I hope I remember how to launch, it's been quite a while.. LOL

Excellent times
Congrats on getting closer to your goal.

I cannot wait for the snow to go away here in MI so I can go get some runs under my belt...

Congrats man, that 1/8th mile trap speed says it all.

Almost 3 mph faster than my best.

just when i say (in a different thread) that imo the hr is about maxed out at 13.2, u come out and beat it, congrats on the PB, u really are a great driver, i've got quite a ways to go to catch up to u.

what rpm do u launch at? peak350 launches at about 5.5k rpm and he held the previous fastest time. i know before u were saying that u launched at a pretty low rpm becuase the slave cylinder kept going out on u. r u stil launching low or r u launching higher now that u have the new slave cylinder? can u post ur launch technique if its not a secret? thanks

now i just have to say that the hr is maxed out at 13.1 for u to go and run a 13.0 next weekend

*excuse all the abreviations, i'm posting this from my phone, so i tried to keep the button pressing down

congrats again

Congrats VeeTec. 13.1 is excellent. Great driving & great DA's.

The DA's according to the given temps, pressure, & track elevation should have been around negative -1500.

I launched at around 3,500 rpms, for best results. This was partially due to track conditions. 1K rpms made a noticable difference, and I tried going higher, but the track was too slippery most of the night, at least for my worn out RE050A's.

Great times. I am looking forward to going to Silver Dollar when it opens to get some runs in with my new setup.

Yeah I agree that track wasn't prepped as good as it usually is. One of the tech guys said is was raining so much during the week they couldn't do their normal weekly duties. So many of my runs in my GTO A4 were slowed down or aborted from that 1-2 shift putting my rear end sideways.
