Everyone sucks their first trip to the track. There's a lot more involved than people realize until they actually try it. My first day at the track back in 1999 I didn't get within 1.0 seconds of my best time with the same car and setup. My launch was horrible, my shifting was a little slow, I didn't shift at my optimum shift points, and I never even checked my tire pressure. But after a few trips and doing some research at the forums, I got a lot better and learned how to optimize my time.

Don't worry about anything other than your driving until you get the hang of it. You're not going to know how to improve if you're not paying enough attention to what you are doing and paying more attention to the tree or the other driver.

In the end, it's all about fun.

TIP: You clearly let off the throttle before hitting the trap. If you aren't sure where the trap is, then run your car until you hit ~105 mph on the speedometer. Then you'll know you've crossed the trap before letting off since your car shouldn't be able to trap that high of mph with your setup. You will have more than enough distance to stop your car so don't worry about that. Also, the tracks I've ran at have a little light that flashes on the guard rail which let's you know when you've trapped, watch for it.

yea i think best thing is just keep practicing. best i ran was a 14.2 my first time (well only time) and i had just a popcharger. Now i have Berk HFC and powerlab spacer, hoping that can help, oh and different rims with better, and wider tires.

I went with a G37 and 07 350z (both auto) best they ran were 13.8 and 13.9. I think though we 6MT have more potential, i think its harder to master it. Guess we gotta keep practicing, like the rest of us!

that 60ft and your shifting is killing your times man. My technique when i was n/a(now again) was launching at 2000rpms and slip the clutch till i felt the car move then wot. I tried lifting to shift and wot shifts. For me it only made 0.1mph difference and no et difference. my best time stock was a 13.8@102.7 in a 04 enthusiast. I'm going back soon to try for some 12's n/a with the setup i have now.
