DR/Slicks
Hey everyone. I'm about to pull the trigger on some tires/rims for the track (only- ill bring the jeep (srt8)
out to haul the tires)
These are the rims im getting

Should I go with tires like these?

Or just something like this?

(What does 14-16"LT mean?)
Any advice would be appreciated as I want to order today.

you should look at a wider tire since you can fit it, those are both about as small as you should fit on that wheel. however, with those choices, i would vote for the MT's
The wheel you chose is fine and the specs are right....You only need a drag radial not a slick. How much whp/tq are you putting down? If your fenders are rolled I would suggest the M/T ET Street drag radials 275/60/15(28" tire) as they are a proven tire. If your fenders are not rolled I would suggest the BFG G Force T/A drag radials 275/50/15(26" tire). Also is your car dropped at all? At least with the drag radials you can drive on the road with them and not have to change tires at the track, opposed to the slicks which are not a good idea to drive on the street.

I'm going to stop at 500wheel- I'll have about 420. I'm not driving on these- I have street tires for that reason. I'll always have a buddy out there with me driving my truck and helping me out.
I'm going to order those slicks.
Thanks guys.

Big mistake, but thats your choice. If the Injected car can run 8.80 and 163 mph on the M/T drag radials I suggested, then why do you think you need slicks. People won't think your car is faster just because you have slicks.

Well the rim doesn't fit on my car- which is pretty awesome. The break rubs against the inside of the wheel well.
So I guess when i REORDER my rims and wheels ill GET DR.
I don't want people to think I'm faster- I just wanted to get the best thing I could. I'll get DRs this time around when I get a rim that fits I guess.

I have been waiting for a new shipment of Mickey Thompson ET Streets to come in at Jegs for quite a while. They are on perpetual back order at Jegs, Summit, and a few other places I tried.
Anyone know what the deal is? I read a rumor that they were in trouble with DOT compliance, but I could never verify that claim.

I'm actually waiting for a set that's 27" tall and 10.5" wide. Jegs removed the 27x10.5 tires from their web site, so I used the 28x11.5 as an example so I could post an image. I'm still NA and don't need the big rubber like you guys.
I had to cut the fenders for my current 285/35r19 tires anyway. The 27x10.5 are almost exactly the same size as my 285/35r19, so they should fit fine...
Hope the Z is back home and running well!
John..I just talked to a guy that has a set of the M/T ET drag radials 275/50/15(the ones that are impossible to get now for some reason) that me and alot of other guys use, and he wants to sell them because he went with a 28" tall tire. He said they have about 75% of the tire left. Shoot me a PM if you're interested
The brake router is physically grinding the inside of the rim.
You hear a god aweful grinding- and then you take off the rim/wheel and see the scratching on the outside of the router and the inside of the rim.

Then are you sure you got a 15" rim with a 5.5 back spacing. All the guys I know that are running that size wheel have no problems. And you said you're running the stock calipers right???
Before they get too scratched up see if you can return them for a set of Weld Pro Stars..15x8 with a 5.5 back spacing
