I wonder how much gas/nitro this saves all the race teams? Could be another huge reason for the change.

assuming that the black top is 1/4 mile, then there is a ton of space there past the end. looks like an old 1 mile landing strip, wouldnt have to worry about lengthening that.

if price was an issue, top fuel wouldnt exist
