When i first made this account i had a 2006 Enthusiast and sold it to buy a used 2005 and put the extra cash towards the Twins=-) but i need to correct that. How do you think my Open Diff will do on the Dragstrip with these new Drag Radials?

 

In a drag race, an OEM LSD is not going to help things. LSD are more for road racing, not drag racing. The FM chassis doesn't peg leg badly. My G has an open diff and the car has no problem laying two equal lines of rubber off the line. Traction is the key to drag racing and tires is where it's at. Not the differential. The only real effective drag racing differentials are locker diffs and you're not going to be using that if you intend on taking turns often

 

It is rather difficult to consistently heat both tires evenly at the track without LSD of some type. On street tires this won't be as great of a concern, but on slicks or drag radials it presents a problem. In the burnout box once one tire spins it will heat that tire primarily. When you get to the line and launch, then you will spin on the cold tire.

We are still using the oem lsd (rear end has never been opened) in our 8-second Z and it does just fine.

 

I didnt experience that at the track. I only did one burnout on slicks and it still hooked well. do u know what could/would cause that one cold tire not to spin?

6500-6700 RPM gave me a bunch of 1.8s after the first 2 runs.

 

well if you had slicks on im sure you went to the wet box to heat the tires. this is probably enough lubrication to get both tires to spin and heat them. I have a base and ive noticed that on smoother surfaces my car leaves 2 tire tracks from a burn out. surface such as a freshly paved tar coating on a driveway. i could be wrong because i never had slicks but considering a slick doesnt have a tread design to displace the water from the wetbox i would imagine that the slicks would be quite slick on the water. slick enough to get both wheels to spin. anyone agree?
