Overkill for drag racing a 13 second car. Just right for HPDE.

I'm going to need better brakes, tires and suspension before I do autocross or HPDE's. That will be a long time away.

Actually, as a beginner, no you don't. You can drive a bone stock Z right from the factory floor to the track as a beginner. I've instructed many-a-newbie-students with their stock Zs or Gs (and some modified), that do more than fine at the events. You're not racing, you're not competing, so you don't need those items. The only thing I would suggest is changing to high-temp brake fluid, like Motul 600.

Not sure if you're asking about the 1/4 mile drags, but at Toronto Motor Sports Park (Cayuga) I pay $20 on Fridays or $30 on the weekend. As many runs as you want, your car can take or you can get in (sometimes it gets a little busy).

scotts300 - every car I've ever brought (e46 m3, charger, srt-4, 350z) to the track has always been in the 13's. This is the first time I've been told about a helmet.

This helmet is perfect for a staring role in the REVENGE OF THE NERDS

I meant the HPDE's... the race tracks, not autocross or drags

Maybe they have reason to finally enforce the rules. Like I said, some tracks are more strict than others, it's the same with every rule/law. . .

$150 for a winter weekday at a less-popular track, $400 for a spring weekend at a popular track. Most events, however, are 2-300 dollars.

I've only been to the dragstrip a few times with my basically stock Z, but I always wear my helmet. I own it, why not use it... plus you never know what the guy in the lane next to you is going to do..
