New drag radials and a new personal best
I went to the track yesterday for some bracket racing with my new BFG drag radials sized 275/50/15. Overall it was a good day at the track. I went deep into field, set a new personal best time and got myself a trophy. I was a bit disappointed that I didn't run faster with the new drag radials, but it was a feeling out process since this was the first time I ever launched on drag radials. I'll let the time slips speak for themselves.

Year? Other mods?
A 2.0 60ft is un-DR like, your leaving a lot at the line with those tires.

2003 6MT Osiris reprogram, K&N Typhoon Intake, UR underdrive pulley set, MD 5/16 spacer, MREV2 and Helix test pipes. 1/4 tank of gas and 23psi in the tires.
Don't I know it. I picked up about .1 from the tires. I was hoping for .3 - .4. Just trying to feel my way through it since I never launched on drag radials before. Any tips?

Did you burnout on them for a bit?

You have an amazing and consistent RT, but like Alberto said, much room for improvement in the launch.

You should definitely be under 2.0 on your 60'
I've ran consistent 2.01* passes on my 245 street tires, with 34psi.
Were you spinning at all? Try launching around 5k, then work your way up.

I tried. I got a lot of wheel hop but not a lot of heating.

I know it! I have also pulled 2.0x's on my street tires. Seemed like it was bogging down to me. I was trying to launch at 4k. Didn't know how far I could push it. I definately didn't want to break anything

Roll back into the water, then pull just out of the waterbox then do burnout.

Thanks for the compliment! With more practice I'm sure I will get better.

I tried that too. I have seen some guys do a 2nd gear burnout, but that seems pretty rough on the stock clutch.

You could circle your car on the time slip for easy reading. You ran 13.62 seconds with a 13.61 dial in? And a .007 reaction time? Damn nice driving!

that doesn't seem very good for DRs. you probably just need to practise the launches.
good luck!

Thanks David! Bracket racing is a blast. Took out the series points leader with that run.

I am trying to get the mods to unlock this thread. Unfortunately I cannot add names and times to the list.

Thanks Alberto. I'll try that next time. I was @ 23 psi.
