First time at the track (Speedworld Dragstrip)
The time slip speaks for itself. Don't have a scanner so you will have to take my word for it. On street tires (Nitto Invo, 30 PSI)
60 ft : 2.499
1/8 : 9.716
MPH : 76.955
1000ft: 12.386
E.T. : 14.776
MPH : 97.541
The trap speed is good for a high 13 second run, from what I was told. Unfortunately the track wasn't prepped very well combined with my crappy launching skills. I made 4 runs, which were all pretty consistent. Needless to say, my 60ft needs a lot of work. Spun tires all night. One of my runs I actually spun in 2nd also. On a better note, I did beat a 4th gen Trans Am.

What was the temperature that day/night?
How are you launching, you said this was your downfall, whats your RPM's and clutch tactic?
you noted that you were told that 97.5 mph was good for high 13's, which would be true if your car only weighed 2900-3000lbs. Average Z is 3200+ Was there a scale at the track, did you weigh your car?
you still picked up a good amount of mph in the 2nd 1/8th, which is good, so i think all you should do is practice launching, work with a friend that also has expirence with RWD cars. you can easily drop 3/10ths off your 60 foot which will drastically drop your 1/4 mile et.

Were you there last saturday? I saw a silver Z33 w/ black wheels on the staging lanes before I made my runs.
Whats the altitude of your track?
Regardless of altitude you have power to hit 2.0 60fts all day easy, work on that and the times will drop, then concentrate on your shifting technique and your good to go. Sounds so easy but for some it takes years to master if they even master it at all.

Not sure of the altitude. I think 1200 MSL, not sure of the DA that night. The temps were in the 50s and low humidity. I'm going to start going to the track more often for sure.
Frosty, yes I was the one with silver Z and the gunmetal wheels.
TopNotch, the temp was pretty cool. I think high 50s to 60s. I tried a couple techniques while I was launching. I tried slipping the clutch from about 3500-4k rpm, which resulted in my worst 60ft and I still spun at the top of first. Then the run above I tried slipping it slightly from about 2k rpm.

I couldn't get any grip as well. Its hard to get into the 13's w/o FI at the local tracks unfortunately. Did you try lowering the tire pressure?
It was cool that night (mid 50's) and I was making good topend power (I was picking up 25-26mph between the 1/8 and the 1/4).
Yea I lowered them to 30 psi.
I think I saw your G there. Was it like a dark blue color? I remember it being pretty loud.

Ran my car again tonight. Improved both my 60ft and ET, as well as my trap speed. This was my first and best run of the night. All others were missed shifts or full of tire spin. I'm in the right lane.
a. Try daytime when the sun is out. Noon or later.
b. Take your time getting to the staging lights. Try your best to make sure the car is pointed straight.
c. Switch lanes. Find your favorite lane.
d. Follow a 12 second car with slicks. Put your tires in the exact same spot.
e. If the well worn spot is not working for you, move a foot to the right or left.
f. Stage shallow. Pre stage. Bump the car until the staging light is flickering. Go one more inch but no more.
Good luck.
BTW I can see “good air.” The Z is picking up 22.7 MPH in the second 660 feet.

Shallow stage: Distance between stage and starting line is called “roll out.” Shallow stage increases roll out allowing you to accelerate “before” starting line. Good for ET.
Deep stage: Puts you closer to the finish line. First car too cross the finish line wins.
