Default Took my HR to the track yesterday

It was my first time. I think I did pretty good, but anybody who goes regularly would say I need improvement (suck). My problem was launching, and just being nervous dragging for the first time.

1st run
Reaction - 1.5330
60ft - 2.554
330ft - 6.4459
1/8 ET - 9.5888
1/8 MPH - 78.43
1/4 ET - 14.5101
1/4 MPH - 95.10

2nd run
Reaction - 1.1111
60ft - 2.27
330ft -
1/8 ET - 9.4060
1/8 MPH - 78.25
1/4 ET - 14.3287
1/4 MPH - 98.71

3rd run
Reaction - .9251
60ft - 2.1800
330ft -
1/8 ET - 9.2198
1/8 MPH - 78.29
1/4 ET - 14.1249
1/4 MPH - 98.04

Any advise anyone has for me would awesome as I see this becoming a hobby now. I had a fun time and that's all that mattered to me. For any of the local guys this was at Coastal Planes Dragway.

i ran a 13.5 at 105.xx stock with a 2.2xx launch so ur def capable of that and i see you even had a 2.1xx launch too which is good. im gonna say its not your launch its your your shifting thats not getting you the best results. if your chirping 2nd gear and also 3rd ur just screwing yourself, although it looks cool n all its only hurting you, shifting into 2nd engage smoothly but quickly too so u dont chirp. what r u shifting at? btw

Well looking back I do not remember looking at my tach once the whole time. Another thing for me to work on

you should practiced shifting as fast as you can. try 4-5k slip launch on the track (remember track is sticker then street) i power shifted 2-3, 3-4 shift (dont let off the gas). Dont worry about the light let it turn green, dont let it mess up your launch. practice makes perfect.

I just got my 08z so i haven't been able to track it yet. But like kd07z said work on your shifts. I grew up around racing alot. I had an 03 before this one and ran close times to yours. The more you go the better you will get at it. And the thing about being nervous don't worry about it. I've run all kinds of cars on the strip and everytime i line up i feel a little nervous.

You’ll do 13.99 seconds or better next time out. You do everything OK but nothing outstanding. So you need tiny tiny improvements in everything. It adds up.

Here the Z is picking up only 16.7 MPH in the second 660 feet. I assume that you are NOT pushing it to red line.

Posting this in the correct section would have gotten you alot more advice but it was your first time out so you'll get better over time.

I tried launching at 3000-3500 should I go higher or lower?, and has anyone tried the KP tech full throttle gear shift or anything like it?

Thanks for the responses

You guys are lucky to have a track near or at sea level. I am finding it hard to get past 14.3, but I'm stock w/street tires.

2.18 seconds is not the end of the world (2.17 seconds above). But look at 1/8 mile time (9.0 versus 9.2 seconds). Big difference.

Practice will allow you to glance at the tach, and “know” where redline is. It will become automatic like breathing.
