Default Help! new at drag

I know this has probably been covered and all in previous threads, but after searching for about an hour and not getting anywhere really, i give up haha.

What is the best way to launch my 350z from a dead stop and shifting from 1-2 gear with minimal wheel spin?
please be specific
It's a 2003 bone stock Z btw

thanks alot

practice. See where the tires make the car bog and where they will spin, then go somewhere in between. as far as the one two shift, keep the pedal down and slam 1-2 while slamming the clutch in and out quickly, that should give you a proficient enough shift. dont worry about blowing up, the fuel cut will not let it happen. shift at 6250-6500 and raise it to 6750 when you get better. DONT MISS THE SHIFT. lol

hope this helps.

Dallas area lol and i havent gotten to visit a track yet =(
When i shift to 2nd like you said; throwing it into 2nd, dropping clutch, and flooring the gas i spin my tires a bit and my car jerks sideways a bit.
It may be because of the cheap rim\tires i have.
But wouldnt that eat time away?

LOL. Spend this year at the dragstrip every weekend. You’ll be in the top-25, and giving advice here.

Compensating on shifting speed because of cheap rice patty tires is silly. Get some decent rubber and go to the track. NA Z's are not wheelspin monsters, you should have no issues with a simple 1-2 shift.

x2 the street and the drag strip are 2 totally different things. you will notice how much better you hook at the track than the street

^^^^^^^^^ Agreed. I don't understand why some people constantly complain about spinning the 1-2 shift.

People are probably having wheelspin issues because they are following advice like this.
