Default going to the track tonight.

gonna hit up Sacramento raceway tonight.
heading up there with my 04 silver z 6 speed manual, its basically stock except CAI.

its gonna be my first time with the Z.
any hints of what RPM i should be launching?
i tried launching on the streets on closed roads of course, i think 3K RMP and feather first?

any suggestions would be appreciated.

I suggest you search for tips from experienced drag racers. This has been asked and answered hundreds of times.

You may want to go as low a 2500 rpm on street tires. I've had plenty of spin and wheel hop at low rpm launches on street tires.

so i made my runs.
kinda happy but could be happier haha

i NEED to get my 60' down
about 80 degrees out.

first run:
.517
2.261
14.243
100.83
(had passenger in the car, launched at about 2K)

second run:
.535
2.331
14.532
102.198
(got a little nervous, launched at 2.5K and spun first and second)

third run:
.581
2.427
14.343
102.618
(launched around 2K, spun first)

fourth and final:
.682
2.324
14.268
102.528
(launched at around 1.6k, gripped pretty good)

i was surprised at how low i launched and got the better time, overall im happy for stock, i was REALLY hoping to see some 14.0-13.9 but it'll do for my first time in the Z.

also, tire pressure was pretty high.

i did get to see one of these

he ran 11.9

Good mph, but need some work otherwise.....it will come with practice. A while back I was running 13.7 at 102 with 2.0 60's. So you have plenty of speed to go 13's. Track prep was have been **** poor if you were spinning through second with a 2.5k launch.

You mind posting the whole slip from your two better times. It is much easier for everyone to see whats going on.

Launch at 4000 rpms, slip clutch a bit and once you get traction nail it. That should get you into the 1.9 60' range.

Some of the Z32 guys go to Sac Raceway on Saturdays... A bunch of us routinely go to Sears Point Wed night drags in Sonoma as well. Keep practicing.

those traps of 102+mph are good enough for 14 flat, work on your 60 foot time. Also, theres no reason that you should be spinning 2nd gear with a stock Z, (or 1st for that matter) work on throttle control when engaging each gear and you'll see better results.

overall those are good numbers for a first time track day, with a 2.0 60ft and those 102 traps, you'll see a 13.9-14flat

good job.

sure thing, when i get home from work.

and thanks guys, i didn't even attempt to launch at the 4K range, i figured if i was spinning when launching at 2.5K then what would happen at 4k!

i think my big issue is the tire pressure, it was too high in my opinion.
i didn't have the gauge thing to lower it so i said screw it..

ill be going back in about two weeks with the new headers installed.

sucked that i was the only Z there..

Sacramento is a fast track, so if you went to Infineon (Sears Point) your times would be about 2/10's slower. Your car is capable of running at least a high 13 at either track. If you ever want to go to Infineon, PM me and I will help you get 1.9 sixty footers.
Occasionally the Z Car Garage has a group at Infineon and you will have all the help you need. Check the norcal section on this board.
