Default Im quiting Dragracing!!!

Im done.. It makes me soooo made its not even worth it!!! No matter what I do on the line I cant get better then a 2.25 60' pretty much spinning all of first...

I ran 14.2 @ 99 Mph with a 60' of 2.37!!! WTF!!! I See my car getting into the 13's but I can get out of the hole fast enough!!

I know there as been threads on this but nothing has helped.. I find myself running up to the line very confused and not sure realy how to launch anymore..

Maybe the G35 and 350z are diffrent launches.. I doubt that thooo.

Can someone PLEASEEEEEEE!!!! Help.. I will prob give it 1 more try on Friday @ Island Dragway...

Go to a track, not a strip, you'll have a better time...

what size wheels and what kind of tires are you running? that could make a differeence.
those times are not all that shabby. you could beat a bunch of relatively hot street cars with those times.

What are you complaining about. If you look at my last tread, I ran 14.7 four times. I would take your numbers anyday. My 60 ft is pretty much the same as yours. Don't take my comments wrong, just jealous.

I am purchasing some Nitto 555R's drag tires and some lightweight 16' wheels in the next few days. Hopefully, this will help lower my ET's. If you look at my sig, I am running 19x11's which weigh 30lbs each, maybe the reason for my low ET's.

Check your PMs. We'll discuss suspension, tires, and that NASTY flywheel you've got...you have not set up your car for the drag strip.

I ran the same times as you. 14.2@99 with a 2.3 60ft this past Friday. I was launching at 4000rpm.

I now have an Injen exhaust, and I'm launching at 4000rpm, and dropped the 60 ft from 2.4 (previous track visit was a 14.5@97), to a 2.260ft.

It's all in the driving. The tires do suck, but they weren't meant for the strip. I just don't know how some guys can run 13.8-13.9 completely stk!! Oh well, I'm glad I at least improved my time and mph.

Good luck.

My friend has the Nitto 555R's they give you much better traction off the line. He did say they wore out pretty fast he is getting either the Bridgestaone or Michelin drag radials next, but that definately helped his times, especially his 60 ft. times. Also depends on the track you go too. OUt here in LA we have good tracks and horrible ones. I can get 13.3's at one and 14.2's at another (911, not a 350Z or G35).

Lower your tire pressure to 25psi. Do a small burnout to clean the tires and warm them a little. Try different rpms from 2500 to 3500. Practice, Practice... It takes time, but you will eventually get better at it. Drag radials would also help out a lot.

25 psi?? What pressure (cold) should we be running in our tires (stock 18's) when we drag?

i think i saw you there. when you do your burnout, spin them until they smoke for a sec, you should be getting 2.0-1 60's at osw. just try to get there early so you can run after the track prep for lanes 1/2 and the bikes. if you are at the end of the lanes 3,4,5,6 you will be running on a much slicker track.

Yup i was on lane 9.. The last lane hehe... Im running on Stock 18's with Mic. Piolets 235-45-18 on rear.. The reason why im complaining is with my current numbers I should be in the 13's (A personal goal).. I will try a longer burnout and will drop my psi a lil.. I will even consider new tires.

But can someone who gets 2.0 60' times with a manual PLEASE tell me like an idiot how exactly you launch.. Then I will practice it to the T!!! I want no confusion in my brain saying hummm should I do this or that or the other thing.. I just want to go up there with 1 procedure and thats it.. And put all my effort into perfecting my launch..

Thanx guys...

Thanks for the advice John. My tire pressure at the rears was 25psi. I didn't do long burnouts because I always knew not to them with street radials. I just clean them real quick. Although I'm only pulling 2.2-3 60fts, I'm pretty satisfied with the way the car launches. It's of course much easier and feels faster off the line than my fwd turbo Eclipse. Was able to beat a 2000+ Mustang GT and another 350Z that night. Since I've always raced on street tires with my cars, it's hard to tell what a badly prepped track is (but I hear everyone else complain about OSW), since the street tires spin pretty easy anyways.

Leave the front tires alone, and drop the rear tires to 25-28psi. I usually do it in when I pull into the line at the track. There are other factors like letting the engine cool off and outside temp. The colder it is the higher my trap is, but traction goes out the window if it drops below 50.

was it me, or was that other z running high 15's? like i said do a small burnout until some smoke rolls off of them, you will be able to come out of the hole harder. im usually out there every wed, if you see my car come over and say hi, its hard to miss, especially if i have my sticky tires on

out of the z's and g35's ive seen out there, you are running better than any of them. the only other low 14sec one i have seen was a g35.

why leave the front alone? I thought it would be better to have more PSI for less rolling resistance..

I was launching a lil last night. I was bringing RPMS up to 3000k and when I took off I only pressed the gas about halfway and slip the clutch a lil and as I gave it more gas I let out the clutch more.. It seemed to work pretty well.. I noticed the clutch is key that if you relese too quickly you will spin if you dont let it out enough you bog I went from 3000k start down to 2000k then took off..

So does this seem right to launch from 3000k and just try to get the launch perfect. By the right gas and clutch play..

Correct me if im wrong but is my goal to get out of the hole at the highest RPMs without spin?

Ahhh there are sooo many variables to think about..

you are correct, you want to leave the line as high in the rpms as possible. street tires on an averaged prepped track are hard to get the hang of. getting good times on street tires is frustrating sometimes. but it is a good challenge and fun. i will definately go for better track times on street tires once the weather cools down

i say take your revs up to at least 3500-3700... and just really work on it .... u dont wanna spin aoof the line ... but u do wanna get that slight kinda wheel churp up to maybee 4900-5000 and then reall just jump on the gas
