My friend has an '04 GT mustang and thought he'd blow my doors off(yea ok)

He's madd cocky(as most American owners are)

1st run: 13.72@102 to his 13.88@103 Got about a length at the 1/4
2nd run: 13.66@101 to his 14.55@99 Walked hard, he missed 3rd
3rd run: 13.98@101 to his 14.02@102 Pretty even though my launch was off

Either way he learned his lesson

 

stock for stock the z will win. Once you start modding the mustang will win. I know i use to have both.

 

equal mods on both? just curious.

 

My mods are in my sig, the stang has full exhaust, TB, CAI, Upper Plenum

 

+1 I ran a mustang GT and I believe he was all stock and all I had was a CAI and I beat him. Not by a lot but I did beat him from start to finish.

Yes equal mods. At the time both just had exhaust and that's it. The mustang had flow masters and the z had the nismo exhaust. The mustang is easier to launch and would jump about a head on the z at the start. Then the z would pull it back in and take the lead. So basically the faster you go the z will start to pull away more from the mustang. So the conclusion is the z is faster and has a better top end. If you roll race the z will win every single time unless you miss a gear.

tell him to roll race you he will be very dissapointed in his mustang afterwards, lol. The z will pull hard on the stang from a roll race. The faster you go the more you will start to pull away because the stang will fall on its face.

I am confused?? I am not trying to bash you, I am seriously curious because EVERYONE and their mom has a mustang around here and I hate them!!

 

once the z hits 4th gear the mustang is in the dust.. happens every time

 

when i mean modding them i mean more than just exhaust. You have to have multiple upgrades. A mustang with intake, exhaust, cams, gears, and a tune will kill a z with the same exact mods. Won't even be a race.

plus driving the mustang at high speeds feels far from safe. It feels like the car is hydroplaning on dry ground compared to the z.

back in the day when i ran a 04 mustang gt it had Tune, Intake, plenum,
full exhaust, Throttle body, no headers and i had Kinetix V+ Plenum, JWT POP-charger, intense resonated TP's and once i hit 3rd and 4th gear i was gone past him!

 

it seems like there are a lot of them huh? i was disappointed at my best friend for buying a 09 mustang but my other buddy bought a 07 350zhr +1 for him

 

good thing he didn't put 410 gears on the stang it would have been a different story. They really are a different animal with gears for whatever reason.

 

I had an 07 Z...Raced my bros 08 Stang with exhaust and CAI and I had no problem beating him. Also a few others, easily walked on them. Had to give them a head start. I have an exhaust and air filters.

 

stock to stock, the gt is slower, no doubt.

The mach1...just a hair quicker. my sister in law has an 04 mach1, it's a beast compared to my stock Z.
