Default unhooking BOV for the strip

Does anyone on here unhook their BOV when they make passes. Seems like a plausible option for us that dont WOT shift because you'll only drop a few psi and not dump the entire 20+psi.

You'll get a lil compressor surge, but only 4 times. Prolly much easier on the turbos than the anti-lag used at the start.

experiences? or better yet boost logs?

WTF?

How about you just learn to shift properly?

I can not fall out of boost even now WITHOUT powershifting. Practice, over and over until you get it.

Do you run 1 or 2 BOV's? This is why Im not a fan of 2 BOV's I feel it bleeds too well and no matter how fast you shift it lags in the next gear. I experienced this when driving a built JWT 850 setup. Owner removed one BOV and problem solved.

its only 1 BOV for that reason. With my vortech, it would dump about 1/2 my boost with normal shifting.

can you post up some boost logs showing your not falling out of boost while not WOT shifting?

plus this is all theretical since my car doesnt even have a motor in it, but I have read in more than 1 place that real drag cars dont even use BOV's to begin with.

I dont have my car in my possesion to even think about making boost logs, do you think Im lying? LOL

Just practice your technique and get the time that you are off the gas down to almost nill...

Do you feel a noticeable drop in forward momentum after a shift? Have any vids of you dragging? Maybe you can improve other areas before going to such measures, kinda silly I think.

no dont think you are lying, i just like to see logs to compare to my logs. i'm sure you've seen all the excel graphs i like to post.

its not really such measures. like 1second to disconnect my bov.

its common on other platforms, but not to many people race their cars here.

I have not studied the effects of removing a blow off valve, but I would not be surprised if the result is not as positive as you think regarding respool in the next gear.

My thoughts are this - if turbo(s) is small enough (such as greddy tt), then you aren't going to have to worry about it much either way. If turbo(s) is big enough to really lag hitting the next gear - you need to setup something to overcome it such as wot shift or small spool-shot.

realistically, I am going to have to get a WOT shift module, unless the Haltech can do it.

I just cant be competitive against the transbrake/th400 crowd the way i launch and shift.

The Haltech will do it - setup just like the two-step for launching. Find what RPM you will hit the next gear and set it for that. This is how my car is setup and I hold 25+psi through shifts.

Good luck being competitive against a TH400 w/ transbrake.... all else equal, they have the upper hand both in quickness and consistency.
