What gear to heat up tires in the waterbox?..1st or 2nd
I am going to the track this year with some MT's and I was wondering if you guys do the burnout in 1st or 2nd gear? Yes, I will have my brake light fuse removed. I have the stock 3.5 gear. I'm a bit hesitant to just rev my car and drop the clutch in 2nd gear but I think this is the one you would want to use. Any advice would be appreciated.

2.Water box at the drag strip, ya know, the guy with the garden hose...
3.From what I understand if you hit the brake while hitting the gas on our cars it cuts power. Search "Brake Boosting" if you need more info on this one but I think you have been around long enough to know what I'm talking about. Do you?
4. Yes, do you?

I've only ever been on street tires at the strip (never had traction issues...haven't gone since turbos though) so I wouldn't know. But good to the brake fuse and My advice would be trial and error. Try a first gear, and see if they get hot enough, fast enough. They will reach same temp I would assume, just take longer. So if you want faster heat up I'd say 2nd. But I'd also wait for someone with heating up tire exp to reply.

They way I do it is to do a quick spin as you come through the water box to get the whole tire wet and get the gravel and debris off the tire. Then pull up a foot or so and apply the brake and burn it up. 1st is usually good enough. It helps if you have a friend who can watch the tires and tell you when its smoked up enough. On the first burn out of the day you need to do a pretty good smoky burn out to get the oldish dried out rubber off the tire. Then after that just spin them so they haze light smoke for around two seconds or so.

And this was my first run ever, hence the reason I got the Mickey Thompsons. I lost to the Corvette Z06 in this run but he only hit 107 on his best run of the night and I hit 113 on my second (with a 13.3 time) and only other run (video above) but I had to baby the launch and shift slow to keep the tires from breaking loose so there is way more in the car. Hoping to hit 116-117 and hopefully be in the low 12s with these tires.

Shifting won't be a problem. I'm pretty sure you have seem my videos in the past Alberto so I'd hope you agree. Guess it's up to me to hit 11s though as yes the car is capable of it. I know of at least two on here with my same setup and same whp who have hit 11s (oldmanZ and tyler). I'll have to try both 1st and 2nd gear but it sounds like 2nd is fine with FI. It just feels weird to rev and drop a clutch in anything other than 1st gear but I will try it.
