Default Mickey Thomson, Radial or Not

Before and After.......

......M/T Street Radial LEFT, ................ET Street RIGHT
...............275/60/15...........................27 x 10.5 x 15

I needed a tire that I could drive just to the Strip, 100 miles......

I was not happy with the M/T Street Radial as they were hard for me to Control. They either Hooked, Spun, shook or just spin them right to the rev limiter in a 1/2 second, all in the same run. I didn't know if it was the Tire or my Driving Skills, most likely was a bit of both. I also have a 6 speed Car.

I install the M/T ET Streets 27 x 10.50 x15 on 15 x 8 Prostars, no tube or screws, mounted DRY, they went right On. Up Front M/T Sportsman SR Radial Skinnies 26 x 6 x15 on 15 x 4 Prostars, 1/4" Spacer and Longer Lugs

It Handles just Fine with the Radial Skinnies up front.

The ET Street has a nice Controlled Spin, and will Not just Spin Free.

Thanks Again,
TimRod

Not if you Want Better than a Crappy 1.70 60 ft and a Crappy 7.66 1/8 with a 6 speed car.

With a 119 trap, my car should run 11.40's with good driving.

We will see this Week with My New ET Streets.....

People run 8's on 275/60 MT DR's.....it wasn't the tires.

That said....I never had a ton of luck with them either. Like I said....it wasn't the tires, though.

Not with 6 Speeds, and Not in a 350Z, with Automatics, talk to M/T, they will tell you......

There are 4 guys on here with a better 60ft then me on DR's, They are also Much more Powerful cars that mine. This was their Record Run, how did they do on there many other runs.

Granted the 8 second cars were not 6sp, but several 9sec were. 350z isn't a great drag platform....that is a given. That said.....the tires are more than capable of 1.5's. I simply said that both more than adequate....and they are. If you prefer the et streets, than fine. Lets not say the MT DR's are utter rubbish, though. Briguy ran the same tire on a ~520whp Z and pulled high 1.5's.

I don't Think they are....... The ET Street just Works better on a 6 Speed Car. Per Mickey Thompson.....and me.

Briguy has 100+ Horse Power on me, Plus the TQ of the Turbos off the Line. He also has a 2 Step.

I have the Quickest 60Ft of any of the SC Cars on DR's, its not good enough.

I'm just trying to Help fellow Z guys out, thats all. PEACE

i ran the ET streets 3743 tires which were 17's and i could cut 1.7's in my sleep with them...i pretty much pulled a 1.6 everytime i wanted with those tires while spinning a little due to them still being a 17"..very controllable and no swaying going down the track...im curious to see how these 15's you have are..im betting better than 1.6 60ft with the right launching..I know at least if i would have had these 15's i would have cut my time down more for sure and cut some 1.5's...

and damn skinnies..u should def. beat my time this year..i wish i would have had the chance to run that wheel and tire setup on my car

good luck man im sure they will be better

The 15's will always outperform the 17's (just to state the obvious).....I don't doubt you could pull a high 1.5 with good conditions, etc.

Oldman,

Where were you in terms of powerband (RPM) when you crossed the line on the old 28" DR's?

i pulled a 1.68 60' on 18" M&H drag radials and numerous 1.7x's

on the Supra Forums its commonly accepted that you only run drag radials on automatics and bias ply (usually slicks) on 6mt's. Thats what MT is telling you as well, they want you on Bias ply tires with the manual tranny.

I always had good luck with M&H (slicks) in the past as well....

Are still using the factory 6600 redline? May bump it on the 27's.

7100rpm

28's were good for about 130-132 trap

27's good for about 125-127 trap, perfect for my car trapping 119-121 with a little room to grow.

If you are gonna run a specific track tire, there is no reason to use a drag radial/bias et street. If you are going to drive to the track and not want to swap tires, then a drag radial/bias et street is the way to go.

Why is that you'd want to run drag radials with automatics and bias ply with manual transmissions?
