Default Disappointing Track Results

I took my Z to NED last week and had some disappointing results. I have an '07 with ARK TD catback and an uprev Tune (picked up 15 HP and alot of tq under the curve with the tune, RWHP on a Dyno Dynamics which typically show low, is 266rwhp). Anyway, I am not a newbie to drag racing, as I have been dragging at tracks since I was 16, though granted not on a Z. I didn't think the night was too bad, low-mid 70's, not sure of humidity. I had some trouble getting out of the hole, but my best 1/4 mile time was a 14.2 @ 100mph. 60ft time was 2.2 I agree that my 60ft times couldve been lower, but getting out of the hole was tough for everyone. I spoke to a kid there who was running an '07 Nismo Z and his best was 14.0, not sure of his stats besides the end result.

Even if I could've lowered my 60 ft time there would've been NO WAY to see a trap gain of 5-6 mph, so I am concerned. I had about 6 runs and noticed my best trap speed was to actually leave in 3rd rather then shifting to 4th, though I did 4 tries into 4th and twice sticking with 3rd. I have seen these other HR's with slips claiming mid 13's and a 105 trap stock. What the heck is going on with my car here? Hooking up better I could see a 13.8-13.9 maybe, but no way am i going to get 105-106 at the traps. I spent about $1,400 on the pipes and the tune, and I am thinking of going back to STOCK! am I crazy here??

You would be shocked how much mph you can pick up with added traction....

My car made a little bit more power than yours and ran in the 108mph range. Some of it has to do weather as well, but most of it is seat time.

Just because you have been dragging since 16 doesnt mean you are good. My grandma drove forever and she was fawking terrible.

Even with that crap 60ft, you should be mid 13's at much higher trap. You must shift like you have palsy AND you are having a stroke while going down the track.

Sorry to hear that.

262whp I ran 13.5 @ 106mph with a 2.260ft. A 1.9 60ft netted me a 13.1 @ 107mph and thats with a slow DE.

Ive tracked at NED many times and I think it is a very difficult track. I would not get discouraged with your results. I had a 350z with test pipes, popchargers and plenum spacers and the best I could do was a 13.9
I now have a 370z and didnt have any better success. My best is only a 13.7 its just a really hard place to race at. Too many amatuers that drive right threw the water box and really mess up the track.

Alberto-very helpful post, well. I am quite good at shifting thank you, and have done a 12.2 @ 114 in my tr8 on street tires, which required quick shifting. But again, insightful comment.

I agree the 60ft time will affect trap, but I have never seen it have that big of an impact (literally 6-7mph on a car this slow? maybe if it was a "ow 12 high 11 car?). I'll scan the slips today at my office, but DA and temp is not listed. I'm still running the stock tires (13k miles on car). Interestingly both times I left it in third I hit my rev limiter right before getting through the traps and in both instances trap speed was 100.xx. I am not sure what the gearing/mph should be on this car.

To be clear I'm not too worried about the time, but more concerned with the trap speed at the end. I figured it would be higher? I might check with my tuner and ensure I was running the right map, tho I am confident map 1 with the uprev is the 93map and they confirmed when it was done.

Yeah I know, everyone can drive. The times speak for themselves.

Work the launch down to a 2.0 minimum, then lets see where the time stands.

Its just seat time that is needed in this vehicle. Dont be dissapointed so early.

I have to agree with Bert on this. Something is off. I ran 13.9@101 with a 2.2/2.1 60ft many times. Fastest was 13.80 with a 2.0 60ft @103 and I probably had 240hp also. You should be trapping higher.

Please see the attached PDF for the timeslips. I agree that I need more seat time with the 350z, however i still dont see a 5-7mph gain on trap speed with a .3 quicker 60ft time...

NED was tough this night. I was talking to a guy in an evo 9 with exhaust, tune, BOV, etc and he couldn't get into the 13's either, though I have no idea how he drove.....

I did notice that my clutch seems to be a weak point. on the shifts it did not instantly "grab" like I am used to in my ACT (i know, it is stock vs aftermarket) however I drove another 350z and the clutch felt the same on that one when pushed as well.

How far is the next closest track?

Some tracks are inherently slower or quicker than others.

14.29 second ET: The Z is picking up 22.3 MPH in the second 660 feet. That is a strong running Z. The car runs great.

Search through my posts I have plenty of them on here. Goodluck next time. I went to the track earlier this month and couldnt trap higher than 100 but in cooler weather Im trapping 105-106.

I assume mid 13 is 13.5X seconds? Yes I have one.
