Default Great Drivers Come inside...

Are you guys that have managed really good driving at the drag strip running short throw shifters or stock shifters? I used to powershift my previous drag car and had a B&M short throw in it. Never even took it to the track with the stock shifter.

Alberto, others???

Ive noticed alot of people dont like aftermarket STS's for the 350...I have been wanting to pick up a Circuit sports shifter or a B&M for a while just so i can come up with my own "decision"

seems like everyone always replies to these threads with :

"it already has a STS..."

"STS's suck on the Z, leave it stock"

blah blah blah....

Kind of lame if you ask me...

As for drag racing, i dont see how a STS would hurt anything...assuming you install it properly and can get into all the gears

A good friend of mine had a STS on his Z. It stay installed on the car for 3 days. It was horrible and made the car very difficult to shift quickly. I drove it at the track and it was terrible. I would advise against getting one.

Stock shifter is more than adequate....I don't think a STS is a worthwhile mod.

^thats about the best replies i have heard yet!

bmccann101 = Never thought about that! You make a very valid point...

OP = One thing that I have done that really made me A LOT happier with the Z’s shifting is a nice low weighted shift ****. The lower the better! I found it really improved the shifter feel considerably…this may be something you could try…

Stock shifter, I hate SS shifters.

The length of the throw isnt what slows down shifting, or what seperates the men from the boys. It's the leg speed on and off that clutch and the timing of the entire shift.

I'm on my second ss clutch line. The first one separated at the banjo fitting and dumped all the fluid straight on the ground during a track day. Not sure how it happened, but it sucked.

Im on the second one as well. My first one started leaking, it somehow developed a pin size hole in the line.

I'm on my first SS clutch line only been on for a couple thousand miles. Honestly I don't notice much of a difference from stock, but I suppose it can handle higher temps.
