My drag set up
These are some old pics from IFO earlier this year. We ended up winning the True Street class with a best pass in the final round 10.6@140mph. This was only the seventh pass on the car so I was still taking it easy. Wheels are Weld Aluma Stars 17x4 front and Jegs pro stars 15x8 rear. I'm bored and missing my car so I decided to post a few pics.

I ran 26s when I had the stock block and the stage 1 twin turbos. I needed to move up to the 28s with a 140mph trap speed I am trying to stay in 4th. Last pass I went through the lights on the rev limiter in 4th so I may end up trying a 3.3 rear gear in the future.

LOL @ you complaining about 1.6 short times. Most of us wish we can cut below 1.7s.
Also, power has nothing to do with tire height. All you're doing is changing the gear ratio by a very small increment, which allows you to stay in gear longer or shorter.
With 26s, you should be hitting the rev limiter at like 109mph or something (stock tire height tops out at 111mph in 4th). 28s will probably give you slightly higher short times but you'll definitely be in 4th gear, assuming you don't trap over something like 113mph.

I recommend giving the ET streets a spin. I have had ZERO wheelspin with proper warmup, my best is 1.7 60ft. I need practice, not tire.

I best is a 1.7, also, on ET Streets.
Well, of course, taller tires mean more mass/weight therefore more power needed to justify using them. More power also means higher trap, which means that if you're having to shift or hitting the rev limiter, taller gears/tires would help. However, in no way is more power a requirement.
