Default Lowering tire pressure @ the track

Everyone talks about lowering tire pressure at the drag strip. What do you guys use to put air back into the tires for the ride home?

Yep, and some tracks even have air pumps at their facilities.

I use one of those little cheap air pumps that plug into your accessory outlet and a real good air pressure gage.

You can get them at just about any auto parts store, especially the chain stores like kragen, Pep boys etc. Sears has them. Yes, they are worth it. I use a very small one in the Z, becasue of all the storage room we have. the small ones tend to take a little longer, but it is not all that bad. i have even used it on my 1 ton van. That takes awhile to get up to the right pressure though. I went to the Texas Speedway in August..man you guys have a lot of Z's around the DFW area!!

yup, get a cheapo campbell hausfield from Wal Mart for about 40.00. takes about 5 minutes to go from 28 lbs to 35 lbs in a tire but since you are checking over the entire car after racing (hopefully) you have plenty of time.j

I also use it for wheeling in my Jeep. It isn't quite big enough for that but patience is a virtue. With a set of tire plugs in the car you can recover from pretty much any tire failure. Then use the compressor to air em back up.

That's what I use as well... but I went for the 11 gallon... sharing air with others (in exchange for set-up info)... it fits forward of the strut brace... a 5 gallon tank would be a better choice when room is a consideration. The advantage of going with the tank is speed of inflation over the little compressor...
