Default Took the 07 to the strip....

... and left disappointed. All my runs i got wheel hop going from first to second and hit rev limiter in second (i think) on the first run. Misshifted from 3 to 6th on the second best run. I guess there's room for improvement so that's a good thing. The toughest thing I'm seeing is that first to second shift cause I can't bring myself to slightly feather the clutch especially with how crappy the clutch feels.

First run
60' 2.120
330' 6.002
1/8 9.141
MPH 78.75
1000' 11.801
1/4 14.024
MPH 102.77

Second run:
60' 2.133
330' 6.014
1/8 9.148
MPH 79.06
1000' 11.794
1/4 14.039
MPH 100.52

The rest of my runs were even worse. This was at Cayuga in Ontario Canada.

I was unable to hit 13s in my HR 350Z

Any pointers?

The launches are decent, 2.1 60' isn't great but it's not bad at all.

Car is stock? Seems about right for poor shifting. Just shift like you mean it, not to be abusive to the car but with force and conviction.

The car shouldn't wheelhop at all on the 1-2 shift, possibly you have a broken diff mount bushing.

wheel hop and your shifting is probably the cause of your problem. are you running stock suspension? i remember when i had my stock suspension the same thing used to happen to me until i got my coilovers

I shift like an angry man, thats why i tend to misshift into fourth. I still lift tho.

Mods are:
JWT intakes
KW V1's
Enkei RPF1s
JWT clutch and flywheel
Willwood HD master
HD CSC

I have a spare pumpkin with VLSD and 4.083 gears waiting to be put together and installed, just trying to find someone to do it.

My clutch engagement is really high and engagement window is quite small, I was also smelling a faint clutch smell the entire night.

Should I be able to just mash it into second and expect no drama?

I'm sure the V1s don't help me any with the wheel hop, they feel just like stock.

I don't get any wheelhop on stock suspension, so i'd suspect a broken diff bushing as I said.

With those mods you should be quicker for sure, I was hitting 13.5 @ 104 with just exhaust and a very basic tune that was nitrous safe, not optimized for N/A power.

I'd suggest finding the source of your wheelhop and fixing that, it will help you be quicker without feeling like you are damaging the car.

2.1 60ft shifting angry would be 13's EASY in an HR.

You may think you shift angry but the fact is you shift like $hit. Work on being smooth, work on your timing. The speed will come.

<-----DE owner who truly shifts angry. 13.80@101 stock in 2003.

So if you are driving an NA car with street tires do you just plow into second gear or do you try to feather the clutch a bit? IMO im not bad at shifting but that first second shift is tough for me.

i have trouble shifting from first to second with the tranny on my HR as well. if i shift too fast at close to redline it's hard to engage second gear. at times it'll grind, so maybe the syncros is slowly going out. i drive newer european cars at work all the time and never have that problem (m3's, aston's, porsche's, etc). it could just be me though

Concentrate on getting on the clutch quicker before you pull for 2nd. Consciously think "clutch first" get your leg moving then go for it.

Well unfortunately i can't just plow/ punch it/smash it or however else you want to put it from first to second since i get massive wheel hop. I can't even spin my tires to clean them without the wheel hop. I've done a bit of searching and it seams that it could most likely be my coils or suspension bushings causing the wheelhop.

One of the writeups i found:

I would say subframe diff bushing, mine blew too causing horrid wheel hop. Look under your car to see if you have grease leaking down the subframe and differential. Ordering solid diff mounts tomorrow.

Once you get the solid mount in please do a review of the results and if it improved the wheel hop I read the diy for the solid bushing install earlier today and i can already see the bs headaches im going to run into especially with no lift. I was gonna inspect it today but didnt feel like rolling around in my garage. Im hoping its the KW V1s i installed cause I hate them anyways.

Im guessing you started experiencing the wheelhop AFTER you ran your 12 sec quarter? or have you been experiencing it all along, and adapting?

Oh I've had it for like ever now lol I used to think it was my gear backlash being set a bit loose . Mine feels like you're getting punched in the lower back if I shift even the slightest big aggressively during normal driving, even worse when racing

So how did you manage to run so well? how did you manage that 1-2 shift? just riding the clutch abit i assume cause that wheelhop crap would just kill your run. My launches werent that bad but get the most out of that first shift just kills me.
