Default 16" wheels for slicks

So after searching for a good while I can not find any good 16" wheels for drag racing. I have a 2007 HR and I had some 15's but I refuse to grind down my calipers. Most of the reputable manu's (Weld, Jegs, Centerline, Racestar) don't make a 16" wheel. I'm really close to just going with 17" but I rather not have the added weight and want to have to shift in 5th gear going down the track. Anyone have an suggestions?

I picked up some 300ZX TT rears, they are 16x8.5". How wide are you looking for, what size tires?

26'' x 10.5'' - 16'' slick..nothing too crazy...car has 150 dp and some other goodies. last ran it on street tires and launching anything about 3.5k rpm and quick shifting into 2nd with any more than 50% throttle just blew the tires off.

I was hooking nicely on a 255/50/16 Toyo TQ on some mustang 16" stocks with a big spacer to clear the brembos last time I tried. Was having some other issues later but I got in a couple nitrous passes early. The launch was a little tricky but it worked and would hold the bottle in 1st and 2nd was just straight hooking. On a 100 shot.

I intend to put some Mickeys on these Z32 wheels when I get around to it and see what happens but with all my other projects right now the Z is kinda on the back burner.

Also, what is your rev limiter set to? You shouldn't be ANYWHERE near the end of 4th gear when going through the traps, unless you are trapping over 125 or so.

Rev Limiter is 7500 for the motor. I have the nitrous kick in from 3.5k to 7.3k with a progressive controller. I think I'm just gonna grab some Z32 rears, slap some cheater slicks on and see how she goes. Should tuck under ok cus it's not too tall of a tire.

Last I remember I was just at the end of 4th gear when I crossed the finish line...fastest trap was 116.5 mph. I could be wrong cus the last time I raced was in October and I can barely remember what I did yesterday lol!

I have the limiter at 8200 so maybe that's why. I was running N/A trapping 104 and staying in 3rd. On the bottle I had to hit 4th but I was trapping 114 with lots of room left. I don't normally take it over 8K in any gear after 1st but if it's that or shifting, i'll use that extra couple hundred rpms to hit the beams.

I think my window switch goes off at 7600 IIRC, but it wasn't installed last time I was at PBIR so it was a lot of guesswork. Next time out will be more controlled but probably on street tires as I'm not ready to lay out the cash for the drag tires just yet and my old ones are gone.

Also, the regular Z32 does not have wide rears, only the turbo. Harder to find but you can't really cram a 10.5" tire on a 7.5" wheel. The 8.5" works perfectly.

Also, I don't know the exact size but the RX-7 had a beefy staggered wheel setup, maybe those rears would work? I know they are super light.

Just curious, what's the spec on the Z32 wheels?

These are rear 300ZXTT Wheels so they are 16” x 8.5” 35mm Offset.

The front on the 300ZXTT are 16” x 7.5” 45mm Offset.

They DO NOT clear brembos on my car, you will need a spacer. I have the 20mm spacers left over and tried them, they work well. Helps because they are narrow with high offset and tucked under the car stock, so with the spacer they sit out about as much as the stock nismo rears.

Also, I didn't take pics but with a 245/50/16 tire on them (stock 300ZX TT rear sizing) they are super small compared to my 285/35/19s, so you should have plenty of room even with a 26" tire.

I use Z32 tt rear wheels as well with a mickey Thompson et street slick. 26x10.5-16. I used 25mm spacers to clear my brembos.

Works well.

What are you guys spending on the tires? It hurts me to spend $400 on a pair of tires that I really won't use much, especially since the car hooks up really well with the 285 RE-11's on the back on the street. But there's just something about that big tire look that is just awesome.

Base model here so no brembos. I should be test fitting them this weekend and I'll post some pics for sure. I do have 20mm spacers already on the car but I want to take them off to see how well the wheels tuck under. If I need them I'll put them back on for sure.

Brand new from summit racing and I bought the tubes because they highly recommended it with the 26x16. The 26x15 they said it's not required but having the tubes helps with air retention. I drive to and from the track and I have two nitrous bottles in the hatch area plus I carry two back up bottles so no too much space.

Total price I paid shipped was $551. Little expensive but well worth it to me for looks and performance.
