oh ok i was gunna say if u spin your tires during the staging u would be classified as having a false start i would think, but i usually hold it a bit higher wouldn't u think it would be better??

I have heard 2600 rpm is a good launch rpm for an auto, but I'm still breaking loose too much, so until I get better traction I have stayed at 2M.

ok so, after you rev it up to 2500 or so with the brakes on, do you just quickly release the brakes and stomp on the gas at the same time? or do you have to do some sort of easing off of the brake pedal?

sorry i am a little confused. i really dont want to do this wrong, because i dont want to screw the car up. i cannot wait to go to the tracks!!! little intimidating though. it is going to be my first time.

Yes, I run the rpms up when the first yellow light goes on (while holding the brake down so you don't creep forward) then at launch release the brake and mash it to the floor at the same time.

You may want to try your first run from an idle to see what kind of wheelspin you get. If you come out of the hole smoking there is no use power braking before launch. You would only have even more wheelspin. Take off the T/C before you get to the line.

I let the air out of the tires dwon to 26#, that helps. Make sure you put it back before you drive home though.

Practice practice practice

as for wheel spin, i have been told that a little is good, 2 or 3 chirps as you gain tractions means you are right at the edge of what your tires can handle. each set of tires is unique, my man who is using the pilot sports would technically be able to launch at a higher rpm, because his tires have better grip. i do see 13s in your future and am very jealous! its hard to tell at the track becasue you have your windows up. on to the burnout in the water pit, i agree they are good, you just have to make sure your tires are dry and clean when you pull up to the line, i stopped my burnout too early and they were still wet, which really increased my times.

Untill I changed tires I was spinning through half of second gear.
There appears to be something different with my tranny. Everyone else who drags with the AT5 is in 4th when they cross the finish line. I hardly ever hit redline in 3rd when I cross the finish line, so when I do shift into 4th which is very seldom it is only for a few feet. Trapping 98-99 btw.

What is your experience with this??

I of course am modded a lit more than some, but I am not shifting into 4th at all through the 1/4. I am just getting to that point as I cross the finish at 101-102mph. With my bigger wider 19" wheels I am running 13.7s with 2.2 60ft times. I am getting too much wheel spin off the line with a 1500rpm power brake. Part of this could be the track, elevation, temp and so on. I too take my tire pressure down to 25-26psi and I check it after the first and second runs because as the tires heat up the pressure rises. Also, remove weight by having little gas and removing the spare tire. I need to get some 16 or 17" wheels with DRs and I think I will hit low 13s.

Good to hear some one else is still in 3rd. I am running 17's still spinning but nearly as bad with the sport pilots 255 45 17.

I should hit 13's with a bit more practice and I have had a few 2.1 60's.
I go down to 26# hot when I arrive at the track.

I use the manual mode and shift right before redline. I think the auto mode is 3/10 slower or so.

I finally went to the drag strip tonight for the first time ever! Had a ball, although I didn't do too well.

My first run I got a 14.876 @ 93.19 MPH
the second run was a 14.766 @ 95.34 MPH

Looks like you are losing traction. What were your 60' times?
With your mods, you should be around 14.0 - 14.1 and maybe high 13's. Depends on the track and conditions of course.
maybe have Val drive next time???
