Exclamation Fastest N/A 1/4 mile time I have seen!!!

Yesterday on my 30th Birthday at E-town Street Wars,I witnessed J's350z (AKA PEA head from MRC HOMOSPORTS) run the fastest N/A time I have personally witnessed!!
His setup: u/r pulley,Injen CAI,Borla dual,Perfect Power SMT6 piggyback and Nismo LSD...He was running my BF Goodrich DR's and ran a 13.5 I think @102 with a 1.94 60ft!!!!I was amazed!!!!

I personally was jinxed from the start with my new tires:Mickey Thomson Street ET's on a set of 15" weld racing wheels...I was told by tech that Street wars required a RADIAL tire not just a DOT approved one.. So they allowed me to do some time rund and if I had tires on by 2pm I could run the street wars..So my first pass I come out of the hole HARD and start swaying real bad by 2nd gear and almost hit the wall!!!So I let off and proceeded to run a 13.7@87mph
Second run I come out not hard just to feel the tires and still all over the track!!!F that...I think it was the Windy conditions that swayed me so much,we had a 25-35mph crosswind cutting across the track..Oh and first run my tire pressure was 13lbs and second run I bumped it to 18lbs...I have to try again on a calm day..
Anyway, Congrats to Jason of MRC Motorsports for pulling such a respectable time N/A...He did go on to be the 3rd car left in the Bracket racing and got a LITTLE trophy!!!

Not bad, but his times arent that low for the mods and his 60ft.....and he has a piggy-back ecu?? Hmm, as soon as I get some new tires, I'm going for the fastest N/A. Fastest Ive heard of is 13.48 @ 103, some guy here in MD actually.

Hmm.. Only a 13.5@102 with drags. With those mods,a higher trap speed should be in order. My bone stock Z with 1.9 60ft should get 13.7!

maybe I'm over estimating the Z's potential, but i think that 60' is very attainable on the stock tires. I mean I know a guy with a stock geared mustang gt that cuts 1.8s on street tires(non drs)

I think yopu are overestimating the Z's potential...It is a very difficult car to launch properly and a 1.9 60 ft on dr's is average for the Z with an average driver..My best time on DR's was 1.88 and that was on N2O...The car loves to spin the tires if you give it too much RPM and it bogs if you give it too little RPM..Its real tricky..

I ran the time in my sig STOCK with just sticky tires....and the same 60'

I did have a 1.83 60' one run but hit the limiter in 3rd and ended up running 13.65 would have probably run a low 13.5 or possibly a 13.4 with that 1.83

There is plenty of 60' potential in the Z....I pulled 1.83 on tiny slicks @ 15psi that I borrowed from my buddies FWD maxima...the are only 6 or 7 inches wide. I didn't even really heat them up well and pulled a 1.83...I think the car is capable of a 1.7x on slicks with stock power levels and a stock clutch.

As for launching...I think the Z is pretty easy to launch...I pulled a 2.04 60' on the stock 18s with the RE040s last summer on my second run ever down the track with the car. (I only got 3 runs in that day and ran a best of 13.92@101mph)

Default TRack Times

Yesterday at the Z Shootout in Reynolds,Ga, I had a N/A run of 13.37. I then switched to n20 and had a 11.72 with a slipping clutch on the 2nd run. The clutch started holding after that run but I couldn't speed shift into 3rd (synchronizers gone)! Had a couple more high 11's and then after taking "a left" (end of run) I saw "fire"! Damage- blew the top of the Crawford Plenum off, JWT Intake & MAF blown apart along with a little misc wiring, drivers headlight partially melted, and last (I hope) the hood. I think they use the term "puddleing" for the above. Needless to say, I should have called it a day after having shifting problems. All the above was on film so pictures to follow soon.

I have my slip in the the car but I had a 1.91 60' on my 13.49 run and tbe trap was 102.... I would of made it into the finals but redlighted with a -.082 light... Overall it was a great day and had lots of fun. Also, those timnes were with a fully loaded car including my 75lb sub box. I believe the car weighed in at 3525lbs. Not that light.......

I have a question for you. Did the knetics traction rods reduce wheelhop how they are said to? My main problem on the stock Z is wheel hop.

I really only have wheel hop on the street if i don't launch properly.. It is more by the rpm you launch at and wheter or not you slip the clutch at all... I have had the tarction rods on for so long taht I forgot how it was before.....

Hi,
I was there on Saturday also, but with the ECS Corvette Challenge. (don't have a Z yet) We did have a stiff side wind, but that was not the main source of your "swaying" problem. I take it this is the first time you have run with ET Streets? I say this because running ET Streets with radials up front is the main cause of your car moving all over the track. You need to run a bias tire up front or at best a very narrow radial, like a 215 or so. A bias ply tire will eliminate the sway, while a narrow radial will only help somewhat. I know from personal experience how unnerving this can be, especially at the top of the track.

BTW, I REALLY like the Zs, you car is especially a BAD BOY. I had talked to you in pits a couple of weeks ago. I also raced you that day with my buds low 11 C5, that just shut off at mid track, don't know if you remember? I too (before it shut off) was all over the track, as he has the ETs and radial combo.

Another factor that can exaggerate the sway (but not cause it) is alignment. I you have lowered your car and not aligned it yyou need to do so. HTH

Keep up the good work guys, so when I get my Z, I'll know the shortest route to the 11's
