I just got back from the track today. All I have on the car is the K&N Typhoon intake which I installed today. Since the install, the car has been idling really rough (check out my post in the engine forums for more details if you have any ideas)....I think I may have damaged the MAF sensor, but the car seemed to drive fine.
Anyways, my best time was a 14.556...Not as good as I hoped, but it's OK I guess. Just curious what some of you guys either ran stock or with not too much on the car. I remember the last time I was at the track with my 3.5 Altima, I raced against a Z that had a CAI and exhaust and ran a 14.3....so maybe I didn't do TOO bad? Also, what were some of your trap speeds?
Also, there was a black Z that didn't run with the Nismo wing and aftermarket wheels....this was at Capitol Raceway in Crawford, MD....was that anybody on these forums?
Anyways, enough blabber, here's my slip (if you guys see anything that would lead you to think I have room for improvement, let me know and maybe how I could improve....I'm thinking it's mostly in the launch, the 60' could probably be dropped at least another tenth or more?):

Stock with a 2.2* - 60', I get between 14.1-14.2. The gap between us seems to be between the 60' and 330'. At 330', I'm around 6.0 seconds. I have around 8 runs between 14.1-14.2 with a 2.2* 60' and all of them have a 330' around 6.0. My 1/8 miles are all 9.24-9.3. So you aren't losing any time after that. It seems to be in the begining somewhere. Traps 99.5-100.1.
Those times are stock w/ manual trans and 18" rims, tires fully inflated.
Do you have an automatic?
Rims size?
What were temp and humidity?
Are you getting wheel spin upon shift into 2nd?
That should give you a few places to look. That ~.3 would put you at 14.25 which would be just about right.
Good slip though, she's a keeper. PS. Nice R/T

To answer your questions:
- 6 Speed
- 17" Stockers, wheel pressure was let out in the rear to 25PSI
- Unsure about humidity, but temp was about 60 I would say. I'm checking the weather now in Crofton, and it says 57 with 83% humidity.
- Yes, I was getting minor wheel spin upon shift into 2nd, and a very small chirp into 3rd

Pretty humid, but not outrageous.
Did you floor it? Don't the forget drive-by-wire system.
What was your launch rpms?
I can rarely launch well, over ~2200 rpms. Damn torque!
That's about to change though.
April 2nd we open for business here. And I'm looking for 13.5's or better. Got 295's for the rear, traction bars and god willing 3.9 final drive and NISMO lsd. Can't wait.

Can you explain the drive-by-wire system?
I actually did launch somewhere between 2,000-3,000 rpms. I did 4 runs, the one with the 14.5 felt like the best launch (I had another 14.5 but they gave me the wrong slip...I got the time from the guy I raced, but didn't get a chance to look at the other numbers).
I didn't floor it off the launch, I feathered a little bit, but I quickly felt the traction and then floored it. For any sort of rerence at all, here's my other two non-14.5 runs (the 15.1 I forgot to turn traction control off...was also my first run lol):

That Nismo LSD should help out a lot!

My first run was with VDC on. Just about beat my own as*.
I can't explain it, but these guys can.

It improves efficiency and emissions. Enough said.

It has a neat drive-by-wire throttle system, too. Among other things, the system checks in with the traction control program to make sure that there is no shortage of grip before allowing the throttle to be opened. Nissan claims that this all happens in a tiny fraction of a second, so drivers don’t notice it.

I ran a 14.2 with like a 2.3 60' and a 99mph trap when I was just running a popcharger. Since my other mods listed below my time has dropped down to 13.9@101 and I know I can do better. I am going back to the track Sunday to see if I can better my time.

I don't know what's up with you're cars guys...or maybe it's the tracks that you go to...but in 90 degree heat in my COMPLETELY STOCK Z I ran 13.93@101mph and just adding sticky tires I ran 13.66@101.5mph....
2.04 60' on stock 18s with RE040s on first E.T.
1.94 60' on sticky tires for the second E.T.
I'm going to try and improve on those times this weekend in the nice cool early spring air...

slipping out the cltuch...... basicaly, what i do is when im at the line i pull out the clutch to the spot where its just about to catch at the line, wen the light turns green, instead od just dumping u pull it out slowly, controling the wheel spin...... main reason for doing this is it alows u to rev higher, so instead of your tires hooking down at say 2800 if done right u can get the to hook up correctly around 4300, way higher in your powerband to get u outa the hole much quicker.... its the technique i like to use... lots like it, lots dont ... play around and see what YOU like

You need to work on your launch a little, and your shifting a lot. With a 2.17 60ft with just a K&N drop in I went 13.80 @ 101....with a 2.052 60ft I went 13.77 @ 101.4 that same day. If you can shift fast you should be able to hit 13's with a 2.2 60ft....your trap seems kinda low also. Keep practicing it can only get better. I just noticed you are in MD, you ran at the same track I run at, good ole Crapitol Raceway. Whats Dactive tuning??
