That's what they were doing on the other thread on this topic- cutting the bump stops in half. I think IHateThatBobBarker was one of the guys running that mod (Drift Alliance modded inner tie rods and cut bump stops+ a wheel spacer)

I have the JIC tie rods on my Z
they work fine so far - knock on wood. They look maybe a tiny bit thicker than the teins

sorry such a crappy picture

thats the thing to keep the rack from taking the shock of lockout. Hey maybe someone should make some adjustable ones. hint hint.

no need to!

they are the steering stops!

once u go to extended tie rods u cut them....no need to be adjustable!

if you remove them the steering stop becomes the inner tie rod jamming itself into the rack or the tire rubbing away at something. If you had adjustable ones you could adjust to keep your wheel tire choice from rubbing upon lockout. cause there is nothing i want more than a braking effect of rubbing a tire on something. I will just go down to the hardware store and buy different length bolts with some lock nuts.

you don't cut that or you'll overextend the steering rack according to what a mechanic at GT Motorsports said

you have to cut that piece that is marked in the picture. the rounded stud that threads into the curved rear lower control arm... but you dont want to cut too much or you will hit the inner tie rod to the steering rack. its not a terrible thing but its better that it hits the "stopper" first. just make sure to measure twice and cut once.

Nagisa auto outer tie rods looks pretty beefy but will they work with tein inners or jic's?? Here is a link to there page with all the z stuff. They are using sperical bearings no rubber! I had the kazama outter on my 240 which used the sperical bearings and loved them.

Also Alex are you gonna make any front upper a arms?? I see you are working on the caster.

can someone please explain why that part (the stopper) needs to be trimmed or cut....I just installed the Tein tie rods, but I want to make sure that I'm doing the right thing...is it ABSOLUTELY necessary to cut it?

So, have we reached a consensus then?

We just

1) By the Tein Outter and Inners
2) Install them with the spacer provided
3) Enjoy increased steering angle

Is there anything I'm leaving out?

The instructions say that the tein inners and outers are meant to be used together...because they are. It has nothing to do with threading

The threads on the Tein and stock are the same- the difference is the Tein inner is longer than the stock inner. As such, they are designed to be used with Tein outers. Can you mix and match? Sure - why on earth you would want to, I can't even guess. I've already shown the pictures earlier in the thread.

that's all I did.....I had to keep the rack in place while I was loosening and tightening the inner tie rod. but it took about 20 minutes each side, but One problem I did run into was the stock rods didn't want to come apart so that I could get the boot off, so instead of hurting myself, all I did was take my Dremel, and cut the stock ones in Half to get the boot off...lol....it was quick, and simple.

So is there a DIY on this yet? I'm adding these to my list of mods.

HARRYPOTTER, I remember you from over at the 350zmotoring site. Been practicing your drift lately?

hey what's up man...yeah, but my car is on stands for the week I just installed the:

Tein inner and outer rods
Tein Drift Master coilovers
Tein EDFC
Cusco Front Upper A-Arms
GTSpec Lower Rear Tie Bar
And the Nismo Sway bar I'm going to wait on...I don't want to install it yet,

The reason I have the car still on stands is because for some reason the rear bottom strut bolt and bushing fused together because of the heat, and I had to pull the entire thing out.....so I have to press in a new one whenever it comes from Nismo. other than that it took me about 7 hours to install everything...pretty straight foreward, but you could really *** up some stuff if you're not carefull, so
i'm doing a full 20 page installation manual on all this stuff...I just need to do a little more writing and couple more pictures before I make it available.

Potter
