drifting in your daily isnt a safe choice either, especially if your new to drifting.

If your doing glorified donuts in a parking lot, a stock 350z will do fine. If you want to actually drift and be able to consistently control transistions. Get a real LSD. Also, don't waste your time with a spooled axle (welded differential).

If your 350z is your daily driver, I would recommend against drifting it. You will damage it. Not might damage it, you will damage it. I have a '93 Toyota Pickup I drive every day. I can afford to have my car down for some time.

LSD makes it easier and more predictable. Open diff "drifting" only gets you so far.

I've seen many people try to transition with an open differential. It's almost impossible to control and they spin out 9/10 times. A VLSD will overheat and basically become an open differential after about five minutes of straight drifting. Plus, they offer minimal lockup, so I consider them useless too.

You might be able to find a stock LSD cheap here or at JunkYard, if you dont want to spend that much money. I have just drifted 2 times at practice events, and it has been a lot of fun.

There is an event coming up here in Moroso on Feb. 16:

This would be a good practice event.

Good luck

All I've done to my 350z is a nismo lsd and a tanabe rear sway bar. I love how it drifts, and stock suspension is pretty impressive. I'll eventually upgrade, but for now I still need to pay for rent and tuition, and drifting is still fun stock.

Every car has its limitations. The Z is an awesome one to start with. Down the road obviously youll hurt it because of the stress. Go out and have fun. Just keep in mind the more stress you put on it the more likely something will **** up.

i have a nismo lsd and love it. i normally am a road racing guy but with temperatures so high in so cal, i was looking to do a drift event. i just got an email from thenismoshop.com, west co nissan, nismo lsd for $735. $200 less than what i paid. ***holes. jk. get it and you wont be disappointed. keep in mind that i get sideways out of corners but the lsd allows me to get on the power w/o a problem.
