SR powered 350Z weight
I know there have been skeptical people around about putting an SR20 motor into a Z. I was going to sell the setup and do a twin turbo VQ, but lack of time we re-assembled the SR setup with some changes for the 2008 season.
Anyone want to guess the weight of the car? (there will be plus and minus a couple pounds till it is on the track but it is 99% done so we scaled it)

if all the weight came off the front of the car, we assume the car originally weighed 3200lbs, and the original weight distribution is 53f/47r...
the new weight distribution would be ~ 42f/58r.

I say 2650 lbs. And he's talking about the original 350Z coupe not the V8 convertible.

I was talking about that specific car. I'm sure there was weight removed from the rear as well (spare, jack, etc.)

If the VQ weighs in at 3xxlbs, how the hell are they getting in the 2600-2800lb range
And I could have sworn the SR was in the 3xxlb range as well.
edit-just a quick google
SR20DET - 149 kg ~328 lbs

the car is 2389lbs. we did a lot of work to it in the off season to get it to a competitive point. we are still running the titan car as the primary car, the sr is getting rebuilt for backup and for demos.
and the weight distribution is still set right...
does anyone know what the lightest (non tube-chassis) Z is?

what else did you do for weight reduction besides lighter motor, and how did you maintain the f/r ratio? cut out everything behind the seats? no more plastic parts, no radio parts, lighter suspension parts, brakes, wheels, exhaust, fuel cell possibly??

wow ^^^+1
but if you could strip that much weight, why not stick with the vq and go FI? You'd have more power.
