Default Seeking advice on performance clutch

Hey everyone! I need some advice and your opinions on a performance clutch kit for my 350Z. I need to replace it before this year's drift racing season begins, so by the 1st of April. I've been doing a little research but need to know which brands you guys are going with and where I can find a good deal. I'm ballin on a budget but definitely need to invest in one that's going to hold up. I appreciate your feedback...thanks!!!

well if you need to ask your self. is it more of a track car or street? how pucks and stuff. People like excedy and alot of what the venders are selling. Look at what they are selling and get a idea of what you want and what you want in the clutch. Then go and make a decision from there.

P.s sorry for the bad grammaer kinda hard eating pizza and typing with one hand lol.

This is strictly a track car. I'm thinking stage 2 but don't know which brand to go with.

Amanda, im running a JWT stage 2 full face. pretty stiff pedal and grips really good. But if your wanting a really aggresive clutch then get a 6 puck or something besides full face.

Agreed on the twin plate carbon. One of the best clutches money can buy.

Coming from the S-chassis world, I was very happy with my Spec stage 3. Installed it then immediately beat the crap out of the car for 10 months with zero issues besides for the inevitable chatter you get with a puck clutch. Never failed and never slipped. After talking to some Z owners out here in Chicago, they claim the ACT clutches are really good. Though from what I remember, they were sorta crap.

Unless I get some stupid deal on something else, I'm probably getting another Spec. Its a very nice clutch for a budget price.

I've got an ACT Carbon/Carbon (twin plate), out of the 50+ aftermarket clutches I've driven in personal and customer cars it is by far my favorite. Easy engagement, super light, grips like HELL in all conditions.

I had a Spec 3+ (hybrid) on my 944 Turbo (394whp). While it gripped like hell, engagement was anything but smooth and it chattered like hell in reverse and if my downshifts were not DEAD on. But I've driven other Spec'd cars that drove fine, and their customer service is fantastic!

Again, thank you all for your feedback. I decided to go with the F1 Stage 3 racing clutch. I got a really great deal w/ the flywheel that I couldn't pass up. Hopefully I won't be disappointed with the performance. This is only temporary for this year's season, as I'm saving up for the Nismo clutch

I do have another question for you guys though, I've had mixed reviews on the stage 3 clutch....I've heard that it's not good for the transmission. I can understand it putting a lot more stress on it so this is now my next concern. What are your thoughts?

also depends how much power your running

if your staying n/a around the 300 area you really dont need a stage 3 IMO

im going to keep drifting on my stock clutch untill it starts to slip

I haven't done any mods to my engine yet so I'm running stock hp but hopefully that will all change by mid-summer. Nothing is set in stone but that's what I'm working towards so I'm trying to make the necessary preparations beforehand. I was drifting on my stock clutch and now the bearing is worn out...it's making a horrible sound whenever I press it in so I figure I might as well just replace the entire clutch.

So latest update, I decided to go with an F-1 Stage 3 racing clutch. I had my first event March 13th...clutch held up and did outstanding. It's so much easier to break traction now. Now here's my latest dilemma...I was driving today and my clutch pedal is sticking. I'm not having an problems engaging with any of the gears but once I release it it's sticking a little at the top. Any ideas what it could be? I'm thinking slave cylinder but idk.

Maybe the master cylinder. Could be the slave.

I'd just replace both and put a SS clutch line in. They are't very expensive for the peace of mind.
