At S&R Performance, we cannot stress enough the importance of proper clutch selection. There are tons of options out there and unfortunately, we see improper clutch selection all of the time. Some people get too much of a clutch, some get too little of a clutch and neither of which work out well.

I figured this would be a good place to show case what each brand has to offer and if you have specific input, feel free to add it and feel free to ask any questions!

Clutch Masters:
Clutch Masters has been around for a very long time. They were one of the first to really kick it off with the growth of the Import Market and backed a lot of the up and comers that are record holders, today. They have a very extensive product line that offers something for everybody.

FX100:

Heavy duty pressure plate; steel-backed organic disc; smooth engagement. The Clutch Masters FX100 clutch is designed to be a dependable and economical alternative to most OEM clutches. The FX100 is made for the daily driven cars with basic bolt-ons. The Clutch Masters FX100 pressure plate offers 70% more clamping force over a stock pressure plates. The Clutch Masters FX100 disc is a steel-backed organic disc with the highest quality hub assemblies available to ensure durability and driveability.

FX200:

Heavy duty pressure plate; steel-backed Carbon-Kevlar disc; smooth engagement & extended life. The Clutch Masters FX200 is recommended for the builds with a little more than just basic bolt-ons. The FX200 offers comparable torque capacity to an FX100, but provides exceptionally smooth engagement & extended life (thanks to the Kevlar).
Owners that daily drive their cars and want quick engagement when driven enthusiastically need to look no further than the Clutch Masters FX200 kit.

FX300:

Heavy duty pressure plate; segmented Carbon-Kevlar disc; exceptional holding power & long life. The Clutch Masters FX300 kit offers 110% increase over most OEM clutches holding capacity and has firm, positive pedal feel. Cars that have more than just the basic bolt-ons and/or forced induction upgrades will want to get the FX300.
The FX300 is an excellent clutch for the car that is driven aggressively every day.
The Clutch Masters FX300 clutch utilizes a full face clutch with segments of Kevlar to provide more holding power than a FX100 or FX200, yet still offer exceptionally smooth driveability and long life. THIS DISC MATERIAL REQUIRES A 500 MILE BREAK IN.

FX400:

Heavy duty pressure plate; sprung, 4- or 6-pucked ceramic disc; quick engagement; tremendous holding power. If your car has major upgrades and is making loads of power and/or your car is a dedicated track car, then you should look at the FX400 clutch from Clutch Masters. You will experience harsher engagement that is not suggested for daily driven cars, but is ideal for the for aggressively driven weekend toy and track driven car. Clutch Masters offers the FX400 as a 4-puck or a 6-puck kit. The 6-puck kit will dissipate heat better than the 4-puck version, but the 4-puck can handle a little bit more power.

FX500:

FX500 clutch kits offer a holding capacity of 200-400% over stock and utilize a solid hub for fast engagement. This clutch is not recommended for cars that see the street. It is a unsprung style disc that will yield an extremely hard and quick clutch engagement with no slippage. This is the perfect clutch for full race or drag modified builds. The 6-puck kit will dissipate heat better than the 4-puck version, but the 4-puck can handle a little bit more power.

Aluminum Flywheel:

Made from 6061-T6 aircraft grade billet aluminum with a replaceable high-carbon steel friction surface and an OEM steel ring gear secured by bolts, Clutch Masters flywheels are some of the finest available on the market. Each unit is certified to meet SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2 and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Competition offers a very complete catalog of great clutch options for just about any kind of build. We have their entire line up available to you and we want to help you pick the right Competition Clutch for your build.

Competition Stage 2

Competition's Stage 2 Kit is a great clutch kit for anyone that has bolt-on mods and needs more clutch. These provide very good street manners while holding more torque. You won't see a huge increase in pedal pressure and smooth engagement. A 500 mile break in is very important with this clutch. We can match this up with a flywheel to help really help the performance and longevity of your drivetrain.

Competition Stage 3:

Competition's Stage 3 Clutch Kit offers a segmented carbon kevlar friction surface that holds more torque and lasts longer! It's mated to a Competition Pressure Plate that will drive great on the street but hold up to the extra demand of more power! A 500 mile break in is very important with this clutch kit to ensure longevity.

Competition Stage 4:

This is one of the most tolerable 6 puck clutch kits on the market. Competition's Stage 4, Strip Series clutch kit offers a very strong disc with their performance pressure plate. This kit is designed for those that need to hold real power and still offers very reasonable pedal pressure and engagement. The sprung hub disc is very streetable but will last under serious load.

Competition Stage 5:

This assembly, available with a double spring, six rivet carriage is good for ease of gear transition with higher horsepower. This disc complimented by a performance pressure plate provides 300% increase in torque capacity. 300 mile break-in recommended with this set-up.

This is really only recommended for high toque, racing applications.
This clutch is available in a sprung or unsprung disc.

Competition Street Lite Flywheel:

The Competition Clutch Street Lite Flywheel offers a one piece, lite weight design that will allow for quicker revs and preserves low end torque. The kit works great with any clutch kit for the and will last thanks to it's Solid Steel construction.

Spec clutch offers a great catalog of clutches that are relatively easy to drive and still hold great power. Their Stage 1-3 kits are excellent for the street and offer great longevity and performance.

Spec Stage 1 Clutch Kit:

Stage 1 features an integrally molded carbon Kevlar-based, high performance organic lining that offers smooth engagement and excellent life. This lining has an integrally bonded steel backing for strength under high clamp loads and temperatures. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Stage 1 is suggested for OEM replacement, daily driven or lightly modified car.

Spec Stage 2 Clutch Kit:

Stage 2 features a pure Kevlar disc with steel backing. This lining features excellent drivability like the Stage 1, but offers slightly longer life and higher torque capacity. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Best for moderately modified or daily driven car.

Spec Stage 2+ Clutch Kit:

SPEC's Stage 2+ features a multi-friction disc in a full faced configuration with carbon semi-metallic on one side and Kevlar on the other. The 2+ offers the drivability and engagement quality of Stage 2, but with a 15-20% higher torque capacity. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Stage 2+ is suggested for highly modified but daily driven cars that will see some track time.

Spec Stage 3 Clutch Kit:

The SPEC Stage 3 clutch kit features a carbon semi-metallic 6-puck sprung hub disc that has been the leading pucked clutch in drivability, life & torque capacity. Stage 3 is designed for street & race cars that require an aggressive but streetable engagement & high torque capacity. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility & heat treated for strength and durability. Suggested for highly modified, street, autocross & track driven car.

Spec Stage 3+ Clutch Kit:

Stage 3+ is the flagship stage for a high powered street or race car that requires a manageable and friendly engagement. The SPEC Stage 3+ features a carbon semi-metallic full faced material that offers unparalleled life, friction coefficient and drivability characteristics in one single package. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Suggested for very highly modified, streetable autocross & track driven car.

Spec Stage 4 Clutch Kit:

The SPEC Stage 4 is a solid hub version of the Stage 3. The hub is solid 8-rivet and the assembly is heat treated for strength and durability. It is available in 6-puck for the smooth engagement. The Stage 4 is street drivable but not street friendly due to the rigid hub. Best for dedicated drag racing, road racing, rally or drift cars. Not suggested for any street driven car.

Spec Aluminum Light Weight Flywheel:

SPEC aluminum flywheels are CNC machined and exceed SFI standards for high stress racing applications. The SPEC lightweight flywheels are recommended for highly modified street or racing vehicles. The body of the flywheel is made of tempered aluminum, either 6061 T6 or 2024 T3, for ultimate strength and lightest possible weight. The 1/4 inch thick friction plate is a 1050 high carbon alloy, for incredible durability with any friction disc material, even iron. The plates are secured to the body by aerospace fasteners. The ring gears are pressed on and secured with grade 10 fasteners. They gear is also heat treated for longevity.

Default Fidanza Clutch and Flywheels Options for your 350Z

Fidanza has been a drive train leader for years! Their product line offers a very complete selection of clutches to handle just about any power level and driving style. Check out what we have available for you!

Fidanza 2.1 Clutch Kit

Combine carbon and Kevlar, give them a steel backing and you have the most durable and longest lasting street clutch available. Fidanza engineered the torsion damper and marcel cushion of the 2.1 to engage smoothly and quickly. Great for a daily driver!

Fidanza 3.2 Clutch Kit

Like with their lightweight flywheels Fidanza choose to use the very best materials for the 3.2 clutch kit. With 100% Kevlar on each of the four pucks of the 3.2 you get more grip and more life than the 2.1 offers. However, since it has no marcel (cushion) 3.2 sacrifices a little bit of its smooth engagement. Still, the 3.2 disc can be installed on a daily driven car.

Just behave and be patient during the 500 mile break-in period, once break-in is over you can be as nasty as you want to the 3.2.

Fidanza 4.3 Clutch Kit

The Fidanza 4.3 is one mean clutch. Your footwork better be good, it's no walk in the park. Just because it has a torsion damper like the 3.2 doesn't mean it drives like it. Those are ceramic buttons attached to that puck. They provide quite a grip upon engagement. That means power is planted straight to the pavement.

Don't be scared though, it's not going to give you a larger left leg.

Fidanza 5.4 Clutch Kit

If you choose the Fidanza 5.4 for your build, you're either building an all out race car or you are mental, or maybe a little of both. The stage 5.4 disc will show you what grip really feels like; there is no torsion damper, no marcel, and the pads are made from sintered iron. What you'll feel is instantaneous differential snapping power. This is for the race cars only.

You don't want to drive a sintered iron disc on the street. Really.

Fidanza Light Weight Flywheel

Fidanza Aluminum Flywheels are made from 6061 T6 billet aluminum for superior strength and weight reduction. Fidanza flywheels are CNC machined at a constant speed for precise fit and finish, and feature a replaceable 1045 high-carbon steel friction plate with AN military-grade fasteners and a hardened 1050 ring gear. You will never have to replace your flywheel again as you can just swap friction plates, and reinstall. All these features make this a quality lightweight flywheel at a great price.
