I don't understand why those who don't drive in the snow feel necessary to comment to posts like this. If you're driving your Z in the snow, just make sure you get decent SNOW tires (all-seasons aren't the same), and SKIP the rust protection.

Most new cars come with enough rust-protection right from the factory (underbody panels are treated to slow/inhibit the rust process). During the winter when you normally wash your car of all the sand and salt, just spray under as well, and give your underbody a good rinsing. No need to waste your money on rust-proofing.

Take it from a guy who was born in Scarborough, Ontario

This is a discussion board, maybe the person who replied intended to give the original poster another option that maybe he never thought of... it would make sense, since this is a discussion board.

As for some of us here, driving in the winter is not an option even with the "supposed" stock rust proofing. Some of us have the car lowered and with a body kit, and driving in the winter is not an option. Or one that we would even consider.

Maybe I just helped the original poster out by making him realize that it's just not about salt and maybe if he had the Zed lowered or have a lip on the car, driving it in the winter might not be so good.

I hope you don't mind that a person who doesn't drive the Zed in the winter responded...

Like I said, all new cars are rust-protected from the factory, and should inhibit rust for as long as you own it (at least 10+ years, even in areas that use salt). So driving in the winter will definitely not start rusting the car.

Down here in Boston, if the snow is soo bad that I'd having trouble clearing it in my car, then I wouldn't be driving period, even in 4x4.

Hopefully you have TCS or VDC which def helps a lot with getting traction in icy conditions.

HAPPY DRIVING!

I'm installing Nismo Race springs this weekend which drops 1" all around. How's that gonna be for winter? No lip or body kit...

One thing does start rusting from driving in the winter though...
Previous owner of my car winter drove it a couple of times and last time I checked, some of the bolts underneath the car had rusts.

Im too lazy to check but I think we have a rust warranty beyond the 5 year powertrain. I wouldnt worry about it unless you plan to own the car for 20+ years.
