Thumbs up Allow myself...

To introduce…myself. *ugh* Now that the poorly applied Austin Powers reference is behind us, I can get on with it. "It" being posting my first post in quite sometime. More importantly, detailing some of the more prominent updates in my Z life.

So, what’s going on guys and more importantly, gals *smirk. I thought by now we would all be in a deep freeze and the Corolla beaters would be running strong. Apparently, global warming is a good thing? Meh, Whatever works.

I suppose the point of this thread is to attempt to connect, or rather, re-connect to the local Z community. As you can see, I have been here awhile and while possibly still considered a “newbie,” I finally have sometime (although never enough) to obsess about my Z.

This being said and inspired by mild weather and some recent packages in the mail, I thought I would update with a progress report. I know, I know. Time to send out a full APB and alert the five richest kings of Europe LOL. Chalk it up the bordom perhaps and the ability of the internet to force your thoughts into the minds of others, but here we go.

I was quite tired of being stared at in my Z. Now before you jump to conclusions and think, not again. Another self absorbed Z owner who thinks this Z stands for Z-Ferrari or Z-ghini, the truth is, between long commutes and nosey kids, I just needed some tint. I decided on 30% all round at a reasonable shop and price recommended by someone you’re all prolly familiar with (thanks Noodleman). I am 100% happy with the way this turned out but I was still feeling the “mod bug.”

A few days later (with a wallet that is now much easier to lift and do choreographed dancing with) I ripped out my perfectly well designed and well functioning stock exhaust and installed the NISMO cat-back. I am loving every minute of it. Definte kick with this and the NISMO CAI previously installed. It seems when you go with NISMO you can just do no wrong

I still wasn’t satisfied but didn’t have to wait long because my carbon fiber pieces (engine bay covers, pillar trim kit and air guide) came in as well. I am attaching some pictures and the rest can be seen in the car domain link in my sig. Again, loving these additions. Only two issues. Firstly, my super lame tool manipulation abilities, ala the hacking from the opening scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey, led me to back off from installing the carbon fiber engine head cover. The OEM one is on there uber tight and I was totally spazzing as I didn’t want to strip the screws. The pic of it shows it sitting on top but not yet installed. I will prolly just wait till the first spring oil change and let the dealer do it LOL. Praise North American laziness. Sadly, while the air guide looked great, it came with a nasty crack in it *sigh. So, that is going to have to be sendt back.

Well, I guess that it is it for all my updates. Hope you guys are still rollin’ the Zs out or at least dreaming about mods and/or spring. Anyone with any interesting updates or thoughts? We’re going to have to step it up to keep this place alive during the off season *smirk.

Take it easy guys.

Ps. Positive comments and constructive assistance welcomed. New Pix attached and more found on my car domain site (#25-#64) Sheck4 (Steve): You were asking about the NISMO exhaust. I now have a vid/audio. Pm me and I can send.

* Santa pls bring me a car cover *

Pss. Bets on the first meet of the new year? 15/04/07

PSSS. Pic files are too huge. Just check my car domain site. IT'S SLEEP TIME!

Congratulations on installing the nismo exhaust.

Where did you end up getting the exhaust installed?

Now your Z will sound like a real sports car.

glad you're loving your ride. I wish i didn't store my baby so early...I have some goodies waiting to be installed! Ah well, I can slow down and wait til next year hahah. You can't go wrong with Nismo.

I'd say get a set of nice rims and lower the car before the body kit. I'm very much a wheels before kit kind of guy

Talking Hey guys...

got the exhaust installed at Alta Nissan (great price/excellent service). Man, I am dieing now that I have taken coverage off and stored it for the winter. Just today my boss asked me for a ride to a company event and I had to let her down easy lol.

Any thoughts on getting the OEM engine head cover off and putting the CF one on? The normal one is on there super tight and I am worried about stripping screws or snapping something.

To the above, the engine bay is just like the rest of the car. The night setting on my digital camera had a little bit of fun with the colours.

Rims. Kit. Rims. Kit. I always said I wouldn't change the rims until I change the tires. I think i might hold off on them. I am thinking body kit and plenum spacer in May.

Default Seeing your ipod hook up

Hey mike - mods looking great....that CF engine cover will look kicking.

I see in the pics that you have an ipod hooked up via the monster transmitter.

I am considering it (in fact given one for Xmas) but before I open the package (and make it non-returnable) I want some feedback on how you find it in Toronto - is there enough open stations to make this worth while?

I also see a holder that you have in place - where did you get that from? I ahve been trying to think of various ways to mount the ipod but that looks very good.

Thanks
Geoff

Hey Geoff,

How’s it going buddy? Firstly, thanks very much for the compliments. In response to your inquiry, from my personal experience, the transmitter has worked incredibly well. I owned a few before and it is definitely the clearest and you can listen to your mp3s with the volume at a decent level (very little hissing or feedback, if at all).

In terms of radio stations (if I remember correctly as my Z is in my garage and I am writing this from my girlfriend's comp) I believe there are options on the transmitter itself for the 89 to 90 fm frequencies. I find that these work best for me but you may have a different experience (ie. depending on location etc). It might require some "fine tuning" (pun intended).

In reference to the holder, that might be a tough one. I actually had that from another item and decided to mount it as you saw in the pics. What is good about it is that the piece on the right is fully adjustable so, it fits snuggly.

I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with this unit. Hey, enjoy it! It was Christmas gift right!?

Lates

*Shift_love*

Ps. Any Z pix? Planning to go to any meets in ’07?

Thanks for the feedback.

No pics - mine is a stock Daytona Blue with spoiler...but am added rims and tires this spring - so will post some pics when added.

Was thinking of attending some meets this year - but I travel a lot - so just have to see when I am in town.

Cheers and thanks for the help.

Dang...suspended my cover for the season. Two options:

1) air lift my z to the meet shamu emergency style

or

2) have the meet at my place LMAO
