Sweet,

Let me know when you start tuning on the dyno, I would love to check that out.

Cheers,

I have the APS TT on my G35, but I'm in Ottawa. I am still using the Unichip. I made 449whp with it (slighltly detuned now) and I've been running it for almost 2 years. It was tuned in Chicago, but I really want to find someone reliable closer. I'm stating to look for a used block around because I want to build my engine eventually.

So,clemlover15, you're replacing the Unichip with UTEC? How is that done? Any problem with the wiring and interface?

Thanks!

Clem has an '06 engine for sale, in case you are interested.

I was cruising with 2 other SB Z's today, and one of them had an APS TT setup. I must say, it was quite fast.

Keep us posted clem,

No the UTEC plugs in very similar to the Unichip, however my tuner just informed me of a new ECU from COBB that can re-tune you factory ECU like a full standalone just like AEM/Fcon for only $800can, all this through the OBD2 port!!. The thing is that he saw it @ this years sema and he is not sure when they can their hands on it, possibly spring time?

They said that they can tune my Utec for sure but the Cobb maybe better, so I might be selling the UTEC. The engine is way behind so that delay could be worth it for a better ECU.

Yes I will be selling my complete engine thats in the car right now, I bought a spare one to build. The motor is a 2006 rev-up with 7000kms. The one I bought was almost intendical it might of had few 100 less kms. My Shop found it from Nissan, it had spun a bearing and was warranteed so my shop picked it up real cheap.

It did however need a new crank which was an unexpected expence.
But if you are thinking about building your motor get a spare one, I can still drive mine while the motor is getting done. If you pull your motor the car will sitting there for weeks, plus added expense of storage and towing eff that $hit.

Later,

Who did the tune in Chicago GRD? How do you like the kit?? Any ¼ mile times you want to share. Also I'm using the APS tuner kit, I knew I was going to upgrade to a CJM return fuel kit and an upgraded ecu so that’s why I got the tuner version.

But there is nothing wrong with the Unichip at all the UTEC and now possibly the cobb ecu just have more ability and access to vital tuning parameters.

Yes, GRD. I love the kit. Over 35,000km on it since the install. No problem whatsoever and I drive the living crap out of it.

Pics: http://www.science.uottawa.ca/~paul/G35/TwinTurbo/

I did 12.7@115. My main problem: traction, or complete lack thereof.

Yes, around 8.5psi right now (9psi when it's cold). I got some better tires before I stored my car for the Winter (Nittos). I'll see how they perform in the Spring.

Going FI really transform these cars into beasts.

Hes a member of this forum, but I am not sure if he wants to be named. IIRC, he 's running 9 psi, on a stock block. 3" aps exhaust, running a unichip.
I am sure you two will meet at the local gatherings once the nice weather hits. You on torontonissan.ca?
If not, sign up!. We setup a cruise last minute, and it was a blast (pun). Also some nice pics were posted up on that forum.

Cheers,

That was my first run ever *with the TT setup*. I've been running at the track for a long time. That run was with the stock exhaust and stock clutch. I have at least 40-50hp more now.

I know it could run low 12s with traction.

This Winter, I'm spending some $ doing cosmetic mods: Kuruma Z Bumper (which will also help the intercooler), Impul side skirts, rear skirts, etc. It was coompletely stock looking up to now.
