I havn't had any issues at all with my Unichip. It is "old" technology and it has a clunky interface, but it works well for what it does. I've been running my boosted car really hard for about 25,000km. No problem whatsoever running over 420rwhp on the stock block.

The only issue is that I can not tune it myself nor anyone around here. That's it! Hence the reason why I just got a UTEC to see what I can do. I'd be curious to know the name of the Unichip tuner in Toronto. I know that Marcus Motorsports has the equipment to do it, I was there last Summer.

Paul at Neetronics, is that the guy with the black turbo VR6 VW?

Other than that, these days I'm ordering all kinds of goodies for a built engine... :-D

Out of curiosity, when did you install the kit and who did it? Thanks!

Installed in November by Justin @ Intense Motorsports in Barrie Ontario. He's never done an APS 350z, but he's a competent mechanic and put it together in a very short time (just over a week).

Tuning was done through JRP and TAG Motorsports, and like I said, I don't remember the name of the Unichip programmer, but both Marco Passante or Marcus Motorsports doesn't ring a bell.

Sooner or later I'm planning on rebuilding the engine and using a more reliable engine management system like the FCON, but for the purposes of what I need right now, the Unichip should work fine ... but it's not :P

Full stand alone will take care of your problems, but is there an FCON dealer around here??

i haven't researched into this, but i'm sure there are more FCON programmers in toronto than unichip. the problem is, from what i heard programming a FCON is INSANELY EXPENSIVE ... like 5000-10000 kind of expensive.

i know reality350 sent me this link to some dude in texas or something tuning FCON for a special price of $3000, and even that seems insane to me.

ya, i heard that it is expensive to but only because to sell and tune FCON you have to be a dealer only, the problem is the "authorized" deals are few and far, HKS is very selective in giving out dealers. Basically high price by controling supply. Thats why I went with AEM which very comparable to FCON and anyone can tune it without the "magic gold HKF key".

the only place to get AEM for the 350z is www.sound-performance.com

Labor alone? Not 100% sure, but I was quoted around $1000. That really depends on what you do. I'll do most of the work myself.

As for parts, it adds up very fast... More than what i want to think it really costs...

Later,

I don't know thats a good question, my heads are stock and the compression will be lower so without boost maybe 210-220?? not really sure.

this motor was built for boost which means it will only run on boost. You could build an NA motor with high compression pistons/cams but it won't make 500+ whp.

Not only it won't make as much power, but it will be just as expensive. Comparatively, boost has a good bang-for-your-bucks.
